Only two chapters left. I would really love to know how you like this story? If you'd like to see more of my work? This was my first story I had ever posted, I realize it needs editing, but you get the point.

Marc's POV-

I'm dead tired, this could be the longest night of my life, the car pulls up to my house and my love is still sleeping. I don't have the heart to wake her so I carefully cradle her in my arms, carrying her carefully inside and upstairs to my room, placing her delicately into my bed. She wimpers but calms, rolls over, and sinks deeper into the pillows. I want desperately to climb in bed with her but I need to talk to Barrett. It's well past 1am I need to know if he's found anything. I decide to go downstairs for a shot of whiskey, I'll text him once I'm down here. As soon as the text goes through my phone rings.

"It's done, you can tell your girl she can sleep well. She's never going to see him again." Barrett doesn't even wait for me to say hello

"Really? That was quick, where's my boat? Do I need a new one?" I ask astounded that it happened so fast. I let out a huge breath. Thankful it's over "I can't thank you enough man, I don't need details, but I have to know, did it hurt?" I ask

"First, your boat is fine and should be back in a couple hours, and no need to thank me, I enjoyed myself entirely way too much. I want to be best man at the wedding though. To answer your question, yes it hurt, a lot. My ears are still ringing." Barrett sounds tired

"Thanks man, I owe you big. I don't think I'm getting married anytime soon though, I just don't think she feels the same way, that fuck messed her up so bad, not to mention her parents dying so early. I don't know if I stand a chance. She thinks I'm going to leave, I'm fighting for her B, but I think she's gonna be the one to break me." I respond sadly

"Buck up pussy, she just needs to know you're who you say you are, it's like training a wild animal, she's got to truly trust you. She's going to be back and forth like a damn tennis match but you stay cool and she will take, she'll find a new normal once you tell her Brian is gone. I think that will help her relax a lot. Think about it dude. This chick has been running for 5 years! Always looking over her shoulder. She doesn't have to do that anymore, she can do whatever she wants now." I thank him we agree to meet at Delilah's for lunch next week.

I just hang up the phone and turn to put my glass in the sink when I see Aleena standing there wrapped in my comforter, her hair is a mess and her eyes are sleepy, I've never seen anything more beautiful.

"He's dead isn't he?" She askes

"Yes, it's over, he's never going to hurt you again." I respond, stepping closer to her.

"I" she sighs, "Is is awful that I'm relived? That I'm... Happy he's gone?" She's holding back tears and I wrap my arms around her and the blanket.

"I think it's a wonderful thing you are happy, it means we can move on, you can stop looking over your shoulder. I want nothing more than to make you happy every day for the rest of your life." I say as I kiss the side of her head.

"Are you purposing?" She asks wide with surprise, hmm interesting that it isn't fear.

"No, not unless I thought you would say yes?" I confess

"I hate to disappoint you, but I'm not the marrying type. Let's take it one step at a time. I still need to process everything." She responds

"So that's a yes?" I smile

"You never take no for an answer do you?"

"Not when it comes to you my love, come on let's go upstairs, I promised you a bath."
