Chapter Three

Complications

“Hey Ryan?” I insisted softly.

Ryan just gave me a curious look, “Yeah?” he pressed.

“Um…I was just wondering…If…”

“What is it Kaylee?” He interrupted. He was looking at me with a heartfelt expression.

“If…

“Excuse me can I get a cup of coffee?” A man said who was sitting at the counter.

We both looked at the man, then Ryan turned to look wistfully at me.

“What’s wrong? You can tell me.” He said with a soft, demanding tone.

I can’t tell him, maybe I’m not meant to tell him, I just can’t.

“I’ll get him the cup of coffee.”

I walked by him and he grabbed my arm, but I couldn’t get the nerve to look at him to see his expression. Ryan tried to speak under his breath, “What are you not telling me, Kaylee?” He said with a tenacity. He was getting frustrated, he folded his arms into his chest. Ryan inhaled sharply.

“Just…” I couldn’t finish the sentence. I was getting panicking and the anger in his eyes were not helping my confession. I need to think of and excuse, come on I can think of an excuse. Just maybe something about the Academy, “Just that I’m leaving in two days for the Academy.”

He did not say anything, like he was letting it drop. He looked down, then glanced back up at me, “Well I hope you have fun. I know you will, you been dreaming about singing.” He sounded a bit composed.

“Yeah, I’m excited and nervous. What if I don’t do good or that they don’t like me.” I was babbling, I could feel the nervousness and the crack in my voice.

“What? Of course they are going to like you, that’s how you passed the video audition and I can’t see anyone not liking you.” Ryan pressed.

I started blushing when he said that. I started to get butterflies in my stomach, which I’ve never felt before around a guy.

“Thanks, I just wish you were there at least I would know someone.” I said bashfully.

Ryan gave me a warm smile and then it turned into a smirk, “I think they would of booted me out when I would hit the first note.” He flushed a wide a smile at me.

We started laughing.

“Um…Where is my cup of coffee?” The same customer said with an annoyed tone.

We stop laughing, stupid customer ruining our conversation.

“Well, I better get that guy a cup coffee, before he goes berserk.” I said wryly.

Ryan made a little chuckle and I smiled warmly at him.

“You know if there is anything going on, you can tell me.” Ryan said with a genuine tone.

That was very sweet of him, but I just can’t tell him the truth, just not right now. I’m so glad he can’t read minds or that would be so embarrassing.

“I know, well better go.” I said hastily.

“Oookay.” Ryan enunciated warily. He glanced up and down at me with a miserable expression.

I walked past him and pour the customer a cup of coffee, “Finally!” The customer said with a malicious tone.

“Sorry.” I said in apologetic tone.
