"What the heck are we here!" I screamed at Tristen, he set me down, and pushed to the door. As if on cue, my mother opened the door, and walked up to me. A part of me hoped that she would engulf me in a motherly embrace, but I knew that wasn't the case. She would probably just stare me down, but as she got closer, my cheek stung. S-she slapped me?! I saw her face twisted into an ugly knot, and felt tears brim my eyes, I stared at her, and heard her shout,
"WHY'D YOU HAVE TO BE-" she cut herself off, and slapped me again, I had enough of my "mother" and slapped her back. I heard her suck in a breath before Tristen pushed passed her, hand in hand with mine. We flew through my house, a long one-story beige house. Nothing fancy except my parents room, my mother used all her money to satisfy her needs. I was pulled into my room, Tristen shutting the door as my mother pounded on it. I wiped a tear out of my eye, and opened my drawers, I stuffed all my clean clothes in spare backpack. I ducked in a breath when I saw a picture of my mother and dad, and I was I was a toddler. Mother looked so happy and proud of me, power and money corrupts people. Tristen watched me, silent, his shaggy brown hair falling in his face, his his deep green eyes piercing my back. I stuffed the picture in the backpack with a few other things. I turned around, my sweetheart lips quivering as I held back the tears. Tristen patted my back, and helped me out of the window, he flew us down onto the ground, right as my mother burst through the door.
"Lets go!" I screamed when I noticed her gun, Tristen spun me around, behind a house, and called someone.
"Logan!! C'mon!!!" A black haired boy jumped down from the roof, I made a series of confused hand motions, and stared confounded at his sudden appearance. A bullet grazed my cheek, and it stung like the underworld. I gasped out loud, and Logan summoned a sword, silver with flames enveloping it. My eyes grew even wider at the thought that he just summoned that weapon. He disappeared for a split second, and came back with blood on his sword.
"D-did you?" I chocked, as much as I disliked her, I loved my mother. Logan shook his head, and grabbed my arm dragging me along. I pulled back, but met Tristen's chest, he was pushing me forward. Simon reappeared, and only now did I realize that I had my voice back, and stared at Simon.
"I can only travel a certain distance before the the persons' voice is returned," he stated, and turned to Logan and Tristen,"ready to go?" Logan huffed as in Simon knew too well what his answer was. Tristen nodded and pushed me forward.
"Her first." He demanded, and a short kid, probably in Jr. High still, with short brown hair popped up behind me taking my hand, I feel myself lurch forward, as I realize that I'm in front of an underground intersection, the boy disappears multiple times, appearing again with the others. A young girl steps out and point to the weapon boy with curly hair, shirt and a red dye streak.
"Logan, you and Simon get your next assignment," she pointed to the short boy, "Wyatt, go to your schooling." They left without complaint. Huh, I would've said 'Heeeeeck no lady!' Oh well. I shrugged my shoulder, and the girl pointed at me, "Get this girl into containment!" She sneered at me. Tristen's bulged, shocked by her words.
"You said that we wouldn't do that considering-" Tristen started, but made a horrible gagging noise, and fell to the floor, clutching his throat. The girl loomed over him,
"Bring. Her. To. Containment." She slowly commanded. Tristen nodded, and gasped suddenly when the girl in her pink dress spun around, her platinum blond hair twirling after her. I grabbed Tristen's arm helping him up. He grabbed my arm, and then there me over his shoulder, walking down one of the dirt tunnels.
"Y-you PROMISED!" I yelled, it was apparent fear was in my voice, but I pretended I was brave, I had too. They couldn't know I was scared. I kept yelling at him how he promised, and how this was no better than the cement box.
"Just shut up if you want answers." He mumbled. I grew quiet, and whispered,
"What exactly am I to you guys? You all start saying that I'm something but get cut off, and why does everyone follow the demented little girl?" Tristen opened a glass door, and set me down in a metal chair. My heart rate and breathing sped up, as I felt the coolness cause goosebumps to cover my skin.
"You are- ugh, you know, I'll just answer your second question first, we follow her cause she can kill us with a thought." He shivered, them closed clamps over my wrist.
"Y-you never answered the first question." I swallowed hard know that I wouldn't be able to get out, but I could at least get my questions answered. Tristen looked away, and clamped my legs. He pulled a helmet over my head, and flicked a switch. I tried to scream but found to be to tired to do so. I couldn't move my body as sleepiness overtook me. My thoughts slipped through my fingers, along with my consciousness.
I walked the ground, grass tickled my feet. Free. Was the one though raging through my head. I saw the demented girl mentally strangling other. The horror, I ran over, stripping the girl of her powers. Even though I didn't want powers myself, I crouched over and breathed life into them, unaware I could do such a feat. I was special, different, a savior from the torment raging throughout the world. I had my answer.
