She was thirsty. Her tongue lapped against the water, collecting every drop of water. Luna watched the animal intently, for she had nothing better to do. It was a Saturday. The 29th day is the moon cycle. And coincidentally, it was her birthday. Also coincidentally, it was a total solar eclipse. And she was excited. For as long as she could remember, she’s been obsessed about what was over her head. With the planets. With the stars that were placed in any galaxy besides the one she resided in. With the blue sky. With the sun. With the clouds. With the storms. With the moon, especially. Maybe it was because of her name. None the less, she was always especially fascinated in the piece of rock handing just above, and slightly tilted from, the Earth.
Her friends couldn’t explain her fascination with the moon. When Luna tried to explain it to them, she would describe it as if “the moon was a part of her.”
She was excited, and she was going to drag her whole group of friends outside to watch it with her. Besides -they couldn’t refuse her- it was her birthday. They couldn’t refuse her even if they wanted to. Today was her special day. The big 18. She knew today was going to be a good day. She could feel it. Similarly to how she could feel her connection with the sky and the people there.
