Kayleigh pov
I was walking down the hallway of Teasley Middle School. It was the first day of eigth grade. My then brunette hair was braided so that it barely reached the top of my neck.
I was wearing a bright yellow floral shirt with grey jeggings.
On my shoulder was my shoulder bag that would serve as my backpack for a few months until it broke. But that's not important.
Tucked under my other arm was a book. What book? No clue. But a book I was enjoying reading.
So, when I got to my homeroom I found that our schedules were at our assigned seats.
My seat was the closest to the door so I found it rather easily.
I put my bag on the floor next to me and opened my book. A few pages later and I feel a tap on my shoulder.
I look up to see a girl with shoulder length brown hair, and a purple shirt on standing next to me.
"Can I sit there?" She asked, referencing the seat next to me. Her voice veery quiet, she was obviously very shy.
"You have to find your own seat." I said rather quickly. But hey, she interrupted my reading.
Later I found that she was in my Social Studdies class. As she was the only remotely familiar person in the room I asked if I could sit next to her.
She looked frightened, but nodded.
I was t really paying much attention in homeroom, and can you really expect me to remember everyones name after one role call? So, I said, "Hi. I'm Kayleigh. What's your name?" Original right?
She responded, "Haylie."
Well, I can't stand silence, especially when someone is sitting right next to me. At least, eighth grade me couldn't, so I keep asking "get to know you questions" and finally we find common ground. We both love to read. And we love the same book series.
Later she told me I actually snapped at her when we first met, which is something she will never let me live down.
Any way, that's how I met my best friend.
Haylie's pov
It was my first day at Teasley middle. I was in 8th grade. I couldn't wait till the day was over. I'm not trying to make friend to be honest. Friends like my parents break apart. My homeroom was at the end of the hall way. So I had to walk all the way down the hall way. My homeroom teacher is mrs. Dowst she seems crazy. As I get to her room I look for nice people to sit by.
As I walk in I see this girl in a yellow floral shirt and grey leggings she's reading a book. And hey us book folks gotta stick together. So I walk over and tap her on the shoulder when she looks at me she looks mad.
"Hey can I sit by you?" I ask very shy like. "You have to find your seat." She snaps.
Okay then... I walk over trying to find my seat and just lay my head down. The bell rings and I walk over to our social studies class and sit down near the teachers desk. I once again lay my head down. I feel a tap on my shoulder.
"May I sit here?" She asks.
"Yeah I guess" I say.
"My name is Kayleigh's what's yours?" She asks.
"Haylie"
She kept asking me random questions. When we finally found common ground. Which is obviously books.
I didn't know I had just met my best friend.
