It was a cool summer morning and the blonde was on her way to her work. a soft yawn escaped from her mouth. 'I shoul've slept earlier last night..' she thought while she walked through the busy streets. She worked at a hospital in the centre of the city, she loved her work but it took a lot of energy from her.
"Good morning mr. Mori, today is a great day isn't it? You can finally go home!" Mika said while she walked into the room.
The man gave her a sweet smile and sat up in his hospital bed. "It sure is, but.. I'll miss the great nurses." the old man said while he got off.
"oh mr. Mori, you're such a flatter." the girl said chuckling. "You'll be over us immediately when you'll see your family again. they are waiting for you to pick you up." mika people she met was one of the greatest things about her work. they were all so different.
"I have something for you, mika. to show you my gratitude." the old man said and pointed at the small table next to the bed. on the table was a small wooden box.
Mika smiled at the man and shook her head. "mr. Mori you shouldn't have done that, really. It's my work. the fact I can help people is a present itself." she saw the man's expression and didn't want to be rude so she walked over to the box. the box was decorated with dark lines, making some kind of picture but sadly it was an old box so she couldn't figure out what it showed. it was locked with a small, silver lock. it was beautiful. 'Please tell me it's just the box. this is more than enough already!' she thought. she looked behind her, to the man.
"go ahead." he said smiling and signed that she had to open the box. "open it."
mika's eyes went back to the small box and her hand carefully unlocked the box. when she opened it her eyes widened a little. "mr. Mori... this..." in the box was a crystal, black as the night. "this is too much." she closed the box, picked it up and turned around to return it to the old man but... he was gone.. "mr. Mori?" the girl ran out of the room but.. no sign of the man. "cho!" mika walked over to one of her colleagues. "have you seen mr. Mori?"
Cho frowned. "no, he left last night. his family came to pick him up." he said to the now confused girl.
"he left? but.. he was here a few minutes ago.." mika looked at the boz she was holding. 'what? he left? but...'
"are you okay mika?" the man asked, a little concerned. "You're working too much, mika." he placed his hand on her shoulder. "It's better If you take some rest. why don't you take off this week? we'll make it without you." he said with a smile.
she had to admit that she was overworking but that had nothing to do with what she just witnessed. "but.."
"go." cho's voice was stern. "I don't want you to get sick okay?" he gave her another soft smile and without waiting for an answer he walked off, back to work.
mika sighed but accepted it. she had grabbed her stuff from her locker and went out of the hospital. once she had stepped out of the doors she breathed in the warm fresh air. "such a lovely day." maybe it wasn't that bad that she didn't have to work today!
