You freeze as you spot the figure on the knoll. Their cloak billows in the wind, the dark silhouette almost invisible against the blue-black sky and rainy atmosphere.

Nobody ever comes out here. Your immediate reaction is 'The Empire', but then they would've brought their prissy officers and shuttles along with them. Or even one of their specialists, the Inquisitors. You would've been able to sense them, the inhuman cruelty and darkness, from a mile a way.

But this person isn't anything like that. It's force signature is familiar. It's soft, basked in light, cutting through the darkness of the Force. It's-

No. It...it couldn't be! That's impossible. She...she died so long ago...

Before you can really think about what you're doing, your orange blade is out. You flip from your grassy camouflage behind the hill, flying over the person and swinging your saber.

They block you, their own white sabers coming to defend their head and at the same time pushing you from the air to your feet.

That's when you see her. That's when you know the truth.

It's Ahsoka. Her orange features drawn up in her battle face, her montrals high above her head and lekku swinging.

Then her face softens, and transforms into surprise. You two stand there for a second, staring at each other in the rain and bright glow of your sabers.

"(Y/N)," she gasps finally.

"Ahsoka," you breathe.

You both simultaneously deactivate your blades, and you throw your arms around her. She grips you tightly, her arms fastening around your back and her head resting on your shoulder, by your ear.

You lean into her, both trying to find warmth in the freezing rain and just needing to be close to the best friend and receiver of the love you'd never admitted to her.

Because you loved Ahsoka Tano. Went along thinking she was dead for fifteen years. Now she was alive, and in your arms, and you never wanted to let go.

"I'm so sorry," you say.

"It's okay," she says. "I was just....just starting to sense you."

"I thought I'd gone crazy in my solitude," you say, a hint of an exasperated smile on your lips.

"Gods, I'm so happy to see you." Ahsoka tugs you closer. "I thought I lost you on that day."

"Me too, 'Soka."

Then she pulls back, just a little bit. Her eyes are clear against the dark rain, as they stare into yours.

And she kisses you. She presses her lips to yours, your arms wound around her and hers around your waist. Your both soaked, clothes heavy with water but you don't care.

Ahsoka lifts you off the ground, briefly, still kissing you softly. It's the best two minutes of your life.

"I love you, Ahsoka," you say.

"I love you, too, (Y/N)."

After a minute more of hugging and kissing, she asks: "Are...are you coming with me?"

"Of course I am," you reply.

"Don't you need your stuff?"

"I've got a 'saber, and I've got you. I'm home wherever you are, Ahsoka."

She smiles, presses a brief kiss to your lips, then pulls you on to her ship, hands clasped together.

______

Ahsoka comes into the cabin behind you, and she lays down beside you on the small bed.

She cuddles up to you, her arms wrapping around you from behind and her head nuzzling in your neck. You turn your head to kiss her.

"Goodnight, Ahsoka."

"Goodnight, (Y/N)."

For the first time since this horrid Empire started it's reign, you were at home.
