The Loud Silence

Silence never spoke as loud as it did
When the little girl faked a real smile
She picked up the pieces of her young heart
Once filled with light, now turned dark.

Silence never spoke as loud as it did
When the little girl slept alone at night
She dreamed of pain and screams and tears
The rainbows and unicorns lost to her forever.

Silence never spoke as loud as it did
As the little girl had to leave her innocence behind
Her sobs were only for the ears of night
When she was forced to grow up, much before time.

Silence never spoke as loud as it did
When her eyes showed the dark thoughts in her head
Silence never spoke as loud as it did
But no one could hear a word it said.
