It was a typical night in the Batcave. Bruce was suiting up, getting ready for his nightly patrol while his sarcastic lovable butler, Alfred, urged him to eat something before he takes off. As usually Bruce, sorry Batman ignored his concern. Alfred sat a nice BLT sandwich on his desk by the batcomputer, but still there was no response. Batman had his full attention on the monitors because the security at Arkham Asylum was going crazy; someone had escaped, no it wasn’t Joker it was…The Mad Hatter…?, and he had a plan a very devious plan, a plan that no one cared about mainly because he’s a C-List villain. But he is trying to terrorize Gotham so The Dark Knight was on the case.

Batman turned away from the batcomputer with a cape spin; it was full with such style and flare that it almost seemed cinematic. He bolted to the batmobile, jumped in and sped off like a car in a Need for Speed videogame. Alfred glanced at Batman’s desk and saw that the BLT sandwich that he had made for him was gone and then he looked over at the tunnel that the batmobile had disappeared into and said with a smirk “enjoy sir”.

Alfred is a kind hearted, wise and very noble man, not to mention very sarcastic and smart (sometimes a smart ass). He’s an excellent butler, incredible cook, exceptional nurse, inspiring mentor and above all a great friend. In the past he had his share of adventures. He had some action packed cut scenes and some outrageous takedowns. He was the total package; he had everything. The painstaking question here is would someone who had that type of lifestyle ever truly give it up?

A few hours had passed since Batman’s departure when Alfred received a call from him. He said that he captured Mad Hatter and was on his way to take him back to Arkham Asylum. Afterwards he would finish his patrol. Alfred acknowledged his report and ended the call. It was than a few moments later that Alfred received a video transmission from the batcomputer;it wasn’t from Batman, Nightwing nor Oracle, it was from outside the country, Great Brittan to be more exact. Alfred responded to the transmission and saw that it was his old director form the British CIA; it was Director Elizabeth Moore. Surprisingly Allred wasn’t shocked that they were able to reach him through the batcomputer; after all he did give them this channel. Batman doesn’t know that he set up a different transmission channel on the batcomputer to do…well all of his “secret stuff”.

Director Moore informed Alfred that there is a dangerous terrorist on the loose and they tracked him down all the way to Gotham. They feared that he was hatching a plan to take down the city. The terrorist’s name was Grant Masters. Director Moore told Alfred that they know his exact location in Gotham and all they need is for him to take him down and turn him in. After briefing Alfred about this so called terrorist Director Moore said “we need you Alfred; we need the Beagle”. Alfred face turned serious as he sighed off the transmission. He then turned away from the batcomputer and took off his fake mustache and bald cap which revealed his short Jet Black hair (with a splash of gray).

He put on a sharp black James Bond type suit with a flashy tie clip and cufflinks. He then headed to the batcave’s weapons chamber and flipped a switch. All the baturangs, smoke pellets and grapple guns were replaced by knives, smoke pellets and real guns. Alfred gathered all the much needed equipment and armored up. He then stood there in a dramatic stance with an intense expression like he was mentally preparing himself for what was about to come. He stood there as if he was a warrior preparing for battle or in this case a patriot serving his country (or countries would be more accurate).

Alfred headed towards the space the batmobile usually is and took a keypad out from his pocket and pressed the button. The floor opened up and a car rouse up to the surface. It was a sexy midnight black hotrod with titanium chrome fixtures and a shinny gloss finish. It had so much equipment that it was enough to make Knight Rider cry. Alfred jumped in, put on his driving gloves and shades, checked the mirrors, revved up the engine and sped off into the night, disappearing into the shadows.

While he was driving he was enjoying the sound of his engine. He checked his GPS/Tracking device and saw that Mr. Grant Masters was in an old abandon factory in Gotham’s industrial district. Alfred smiled and said “over the bridge I go”. Alfred kicked the car into nitro and took off like a sonic boom. Luckily for him it was too late into the evening for any civilians to be out and about and the police really don’t care about their jobs so there were hardly any of them patrolling. But there was one man who is always patrolling the night; one man who is always watching and that man happen to catch his eye on Alfred.

The batmobile spun around from its previous direction and locked itself on Alfred’s hotrod. The batmobile tried to use its grapple hook on the hotrod but it didn’t take. So it tried to speed up; it was on its tail and was gaining. Luckily for Alfred he knows the ins and outs of the batmobile. Alfred smiled and flipped a switch. A second later an oil slick trail left from behind him and headed towards the batmobile. No matter how advanced the batmobile was there is no car that can counter an oil slick.

Alfred looked into the review mirror as the batmobile spun out of control and hit a light pole. Alfred said with a smile “he’ll be fine, after all he’s Batman”. Alfred then headed towards his destination. When he arrived he saw that there were two armed thugs in the front entrance. Unlike Batman Alfred likes to take the upfront approach. Instead of the sneaky approach he grabbed two knives from his suit and ran towards the two thugs. Before they could even blink Alfred threw the two knives at them and they pierced them right in their necks. The two thugs went down instantly.

Afterwards Alfred drew out a 9mm pistol with a silencer and headed inside the factory. His plan was to shoot everyone insight until he finds his person of interest. As soon as he walked in there were four more armed thugs and without hesitation Alfred shot all of them before they could even react. As he headed to the main floor he was accompanied by a rather large opponent that snuck up behind him. He grabbed Alfred but he quickly elbowed him in the nose and hit him with a quick roundhouse kick and finished off with body slam takedown. That thug was down for the count and Alfred continued his mission.

Alfred finally made it to the main floor and saw Mr. Grant Masters with a map of some kind. Gotham’s landmarks were marked off on the map. As Alfred looked around he saw that there were bombs all around the factory and he saw Grant giving out orders to about fifteen other men. Alfred decided if he is going to act he better act now. He quickly threw a smoke pellet and the whole room was engulfed in smoke. Everyone was screaming and coughing. “Grab your guns, load up, we have an intruder” everyone yelled at each other as they were scattering around like little fire ants. Alfred reloaded his pistol, put on his night vision goggles and dived into the pool of smoke.

He landed with great ease and started shooting. In the smoke there were visible shadows of bodies and sparks from the guns. After every shot Alfred gave off there was a shadow that went down with it. Finally Alfred found who he was looking for. As he approached him there was a loud noise that came from the ceiling. It was Batman. Alfred disappeared into the shadows while Batman interrogated Mr. Masters. As soon as Batman let his guard down Alfred came up from behind him and teased him in the neck until he fell unconscious.

He then approached Mr. Masters, tackled him to the ground and handcuffed him. He dragged him to his car and threw him into the backseat. He contacted Director Moore and told her that he have apprehended the terrorist. She told Alfred to meet her at the fairgrounds so they can pick him up. Alfred headed to the fairgrounds where the Director and several other agents were waiting for them. They took Mr. Masters into custody and then they departed in a helicopter.

Alfred got into his hotrod and went back to the batcave. Batman wasn’t back yet so he was able to successfully hide all his tech and equipment and get back into butler mode. A few hours later Batman had returned and told Alfred this story that there was a new villain or criminal in Gotham that is ruthless and dangerous. Alfred stood there and listened as he tendered to Batman’s teaser burns.

People aren’t always what they seem to be. The people who are the most blind are the people who are the closest.
