Allura stared up at the ceiling of her room. It was close to midnight, and she couldnt sleep. She closed her eyes and turned over. She tossed and turned, fiddled with her blanket, and tried to get comfortable. Nothing was helping. Finally, she sat up.
'Maybe itll help if i take a walk,' Allura thought to herself as she got out of bed.
She walked out of her room and roamed through the halls of the castle. She went to the kitchen, got a glass of water, and sat down.
As she sipped her drink, she noticed a soft, quiet tune. She finished drinking and went off to investigate.
The melody got a little louder the closer she got, and she realized that it was near the paladins' rooms.
Soon, she found herself standing in front of a door decorated in black. The peaceful melody was coming from the other side. She closed her eyes to take in Shiro's beautiful voice and the calming strum of a stringed instrument. It sounded like an old Earth song, and she made out some of the words.
"Like a river flows, surely to the sea, darling so it goes, some things were meant to be...."
Allura sat with her back against the door, eyes still closed. She hugged her knees close to her and rested her head on the wall behind her.
As she listened to the mellow tune, she realized how tired she felt and slowly drifted off to sleep.
---
Allura wearily woke up and noticed that she was neither in a bed nor leaning against a wall. She was being carried, and someone was humming softly. She slowly opened her eyes and realized that she was being taken back to her room. She looked up and saw Shiro's face inches away from her own. He noticed that she was awake and smiled. He hugged her closer to him and she closed her eyes. She nestled her head in the crook of his neck.
Allura gradually began to doze off again, but before she did, she felt him kiss the top of her head.
"Goodnight, Princess. Sleep tight."
He whispered as she fell into a dreamless sleep.
