Taylor x Ed – All too well
Taylor performs All too well on the red tour and after she walks off stage she is crying, Ed comforts her.
Taylor took a deep breath, biting her lip to hold her tears back as she took her mid-show bow. The lyrics to her song were ringing in her head, in sync with the roaring crowd.
She smiled shakily to her thousands of fans, wringing her sweating palms together as she began to walk to the side of the stage.
As the curtain shut the crowd away from view she felt herself crumble. Her lips trembled and her hands shook. Breathing uneven, she ran her fingers through her hair and sat down on a speaker left in the corner, letting the tears flow now.
“Hey.”
The voice was soft and out the blue. She knew it all too well for it to be mistaken for anyone else. She looked up to see Ed, the familiar redhead, who had become her best friend in the recent months since they had done a song together.
“Ed.” She whispered. He placed his hand on the small of her back and she rested her head against his stomach.
“Tay...” He said softly, running his fingers softly through her hair and brushing a strand behind her ear. “You’re too pretty to cry.” He said gently, a small smirk on his lips. “You know that?”
Taylor laughed breathlessly, another tear falling down her cheek. “You weren’t supposed to see me crying.” She sniffed.
“Is that why you’re hiding with all the equipment?” Ed said. “Or are you switching roles for the tour and becoming a drum kit instead?”
Taylor grinned a little and hit his arm, making Ed laugh.
But his smile softened quickly, and he traced his finger under her eyes, wiping away her tears. “Really, though..” He said quietly. “Why are you crying?”
“That song…” she choked back a tear.
“All too well?” Ed asked, another tear streamed down her cheeks
“Yeah..”
“It’s a beautiful song Taylor. Your fans love it,”
“It’s hard to sing Ed..” she whispered. Taylor wasn’t one to tell a lot of people the real reasons behind her songs, especially this one.
He wiped the tears from under her eye again, and pressed his lips to her forehead.
Taylor smiled softly, though she wasn’t quite sure why.
“If you want to talk about it then go for it..” His voice hummed against her forehead. “If not, we’ll have to work out what else you can do with your lips.” He smirked down at Taylor and she bit her lip, grinning widely now.
And then, suddenly, his hands held her close and his lips were against hers. She moulded against him so easily and there was a feeling of relief, like when you find the last two pieces of a puzzle you’d wanted to solve for months on end.
“Taylor?!”
Taylor’s eyes went wide and she pulled away from Ed quickly. A small grin appeared across Ed’s face. “Is that who I think it is?” He said quietly.
Taylor looked up over Ed’s head, grimacing. “Hi, dad.”
Ed turned to see Scott, who had been joined by Andréa. “The fans are waiting guys” Scott said pointing towards the stage, Taylor didn’t make a move so Andrea took her daughters hand to drag her off to make up, Taylor looked back at Ed, she could see he was trying not to laugh. Scott glared back at him and he stopped.
“Sir,” Ed began, swallowing the dry, nervous lump in his throat. “I’m so sorry.”
“Thank God it’s you,” Scott grinned a little. “The amount of brainless idiots she’s dated.. She finally picked someone decent.”
Ed laughed with disbelief.
“But-“ Scott said, raising a finger with a stern smirk. “You break her heart.. And I’ll break your legs.”
“Deal.” Ed said.
Ed walked back to find Taylor, bumping into her as she left the dressing room.
“Sorry Tay” he placed his arms on her elbows and she looked up at him, her mascara had been re-applied along with her foundation, eyeliner and lip stick. Except it didn’t look like the red lipstick she usually wore when she sang, instead she had applied a lip balm that had tinted her lips red. It had been applied perfectly, clearly done with a lip brush. He kissed her cheek and she wrapped her arms around him, clearly not feeling secure after what had happened with her parents.
“You Okay?” he whispered softly
Taylor nodded. “I just wish they hadn’t walked in on us” she looked at Ed, taking in his gorgeous features, his crazy ginger hair and the casual clothes, the tattoos that she loved, she loved everything about him.
She saw the look on his face, and smirked “Okay, what did my dad threaten you with”
Ed looked bemused “You break her heart… I’ll break your legs”
Taylor couldn’t help but laugh.
