It had been several days. Nothing new. Just odd visits from Dennis and Patricia. But then one night Jamie finally found a blissful sleep when she was pulled into consciousness by a pair of gentle arms wrapped around her middle. Jamie tried her best to pretend she was asleep but it was obvious that she wasn't.

"My name is Hedwig. You snore." His voice was so loud and abrupt that it made Jamie jump, squeezing the blankets tightly, as if they could save her life.

"..Um. I'm Jamie." The man sat up, releasing the girl in one swift motion.

"I-Isn't that a boys name?" He was so childlike. And so to keep herself sane she just decided to play along.

"...Sometimes. Yeah."
Hedwig moved closer and Jamie scooted back. He tried it again and got the same reaction. Hedwig got closer and closer until Jamie's back hit the headboard. Her lip began to quiver as silent tears rolled down her cheeks.

And then something happened. His posture changed and he looked down at his lap, squinting intensely. Pulling a pair of glasses out of his jacket, he was quick to place them on his face, not realizing that he was being watched.

"Hedwig?" The voice caused his eyes to snap up, meeting Jamie's.

"Not here right now. Nice try."

His voice was so adult and masculine that it was intimidating, just as the first time.

"..I-I forget your name."  Odd. Why did she want to know. He rose from the bed, offering a quick response.

"Dennis."

And that was all he said before he practically ran out of the room.

After the door locked, guaranteeing that she had no hope, Jamie let out a breath that she didn't know she'd been holding. He scared her so much, but at the same time he kinda fascinated her, though she hated to admit it.

Even though the day had just started, all Jamie wanted was to sleep. But she had an idea. One more thing to do before she fell asleep. Maybe she'd starve. Maybe she didn't care, but she wanted this bullshit to end.She waited for who knows how long until there was no sound on the other side of the door. Only the sound of the man of many identities leaving the house. Working up all of her strength, she stood up, marching towards her dresser. She shoved it as hard as she could, the adrenaline pumping through her veins. After about a minute or so, the dresser stood in front of the door.

There was no going back now.
