Chapter 1
“It’s all on you"
Acetin Clarity Hall rolled over in bed. She stretched and did a little moan as she felt her tight muscles loosen. She looked at the clock on her bed side table that read 5:00 am. The time she always began her day, but on this cold fall morning she didn't want to leave the warmth of her bed or her husband's touch.
She looked over at his sleeping face his Smooth mocha skin glowed where the light sun rays that were peeking through their bedroom window touched it. Acetin smiled to herself and got up, ready to start her morning ritual.
Acetin came from a well to do upper-class African-American family. Her family is what you would call old money; they have a legacy that is passed down through generations. They are the very definition of what you would call high society black folks.
And that is the reason why she began her day at five in the morning. From the time she hit her teens her mother trained her to be the perfectly put together young women so that some day she could be the perfect wife. To her mother her daughter’s greatest accomplishment would be marrying a well to do young man from an equally accomplished family.
It was no surprise when she met Aaron her husband of three years now. Her mother had practically been frantic trying to get her to settle down. Thinking that her daughter at 21 would end up a old maid because she wasn't married yet.
Acetin who had just gotten her bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Spellman College a historically black all girls’ school, located in Atlanta, Georgia was not thinking about a man or marriage. But that didn't stop here mother from thinking about it.
Long story short they met at one of her mother’s many summer parties that seemed to be filled with potential husbands, the summer after she graduated college, was when she met Aaron he was nice enough her parents loved him here mom especially her dad was just happy as long as she was happy. They dated for six months before he asked her to marry him saying yes was just the logical thing to do and here they where three years later.
Acetin went in to the bathroom down the hall she never used their ensuite bathroom for her morning routine because she didn't want to risk waking Aaron. She did her morning business brushed her teeth then hoped in the shower. When she was clean she got out dried off and rubbed her body down with her peach mango body butter that she knew her husband liked for her to use and got down to her head full of hair.
Her hair was always something she thanked her parents for and her almond shaped eyes. Her mom was actually biracial her grandmother was Japanese and her granddad African American. And her dad always had good hair because there were shades of white splashed all over his family tree going back generations.
So it was no surprise that Acetin had a head full of thick luxurious hair that fell to her butt. It took forever to dry and straighten but she didn't mind it much and she knew that's how Arron liked it best and she did anything she could to make him happy.
She wanted to be that perfect wife for her husband especially since she had been unsuccessful in giving him the one thing she knew he wanted most of all.
She looked at herself in the mirror and brought her hands back down to her toned stomach and she felt a tear roll down her cheek.
"Honey why are you crying"
Hearing her husband’s voice behind her she gave a startled cry wiped away her tears and turned to face him.
"Bae what are you doing up so early, I haven't started breakfast yet I'm not even dressed."
"I missed my beautiful wife this morning and I wanted to cuddle so I came to look for you, but I can see that you’re upset. Tell me what's wrong bea"
"I was just thinking about how beautiful our children would be if we ever had them"
"Babe you know where going to have lots of pretty babies, it's just taken a bit longer for us but I'm sure we'll get there"
"It's been three years Aaron we've been trying since our wedding night and nothing! We haven't used any protection throughout our marriage and there's still nothing to show for it"
"It just isn't our time yet when the time is right we'll have babies"
"Aaron I think we should go see a specialist to find out if something is wrong with one of us"
That statement didn't sit right with Aaron at all as a matter a fact it pissed him off.
"What the hell are you trying to say Ace"
Seeing the look in his eye Acetin knew he wasn't happy with her.
"All I'm saying Aaron is that something might be wrong and that's why we haven't conceived yet, that all honey"
He gave her a deadly look walked up close to her causing her to back up into the sink. He put a hand on her cheek not in a comforting or sensual way. It felt much more dangerous to Acetin. And in a slow but angry voice he said to her. "If anything is wrong it's your fault, something must be wrong with you! What kind of women can't give her husband a simple thing like a baby, you’re pathetic! And if you go to a doctor that's exactly what you’re going to find out, that the fact that we have no children it's all on you"
His words cut right in to Acetin and silent tears rolled down her face.
"I'm going to go back to bed now since you ruined my good mood have breakfast ready at the usual time I'm feeling a Denver omelet this morning"
And with that he left the bathroom leaving his broken wife to pick up the pieces of her broken heart.
Acetin continued her morning routine all the while crying her eyes out.
