We don't see her, but she's standing there. Standing in her little black coat, holding her teddy bear. Her little brown curls fall just over her face, but they don't hide her blue eyes watching the world falling around her.
She stands in silence. She knows her mission. She waits her time.
She's The Little Girl.
We run. We scream.
The blasts are around us. We never know when the next one will be.
The news reports a stabbing. Another motorist has run into pedestrians.
Every day we cry.
They're on the ground. Their eyes closed. Their voices silenced. Their hearts stopped.
They won't see their families tonight. They won't see Christmas. They won't see the New year. They won't feel the sun on their faces or the snow on their tongues anymore. They won't laugh or experience the joys. They won't know the lives that were once planned for them.
She walks among them. She kneels next to them and wraps her little hand around theirs. She doesn't smile or look sad. She pulls them up and walks them down the street. Most of them look back at their own sleeping bodies as they walk beside her.
She never says anything. They walk beside her. They know who she is. They know her mission. They know where she is taking them.
She's The Little Girl.
She is taking them away from this. They don't hear the screams. They don't see the anguish. They don't know about the others that just joined them.
They don't feel pain anymore. They don't suffer. They don't know sadness. They don't grieve the loss.
She is taking them to rest. She is taking them to their eternity. She is taking them to peace.
We will bury their bodies. We will cry. We miss them. We will remember. We will know they are in a better place.
She will be there every time. She will stand and wait in silence. She knows her mission. She waits her time.
She's The Little Girl.
