A young girl stares out the window, tears falling down her face. She heard a scream and gasped once she heard a scream.

"Stop, please!" It screamed. The girl ran out of the basement and to where the screaming was coming from. She saw her mother with a beer glass and watched in terror as she smashed it against her brother's head.

"Isabelle..." Her brother mumbled, seeing her. Isabelle stared at her now dying brother until she looked at her drunk parents with hatred in her eyes before she ran away, out the door and into the woods behind her house.
After what felt like forever, Isabelle stopped and sat on a rock. She looked at her reflection in the lake next to her and picked up a pebble.

"Why was I cursed with a family like this?" She asked harshly.

"WHY?!" She screamed, throwing the pebble to the ground.

Tears rolled down her face as she sobbed. "Why..?" She repeated to herself.

~13 years later~

"Dad?" Isabelle asked.

"What happened, Isa (Ee-sa)?" Her adoptive father replied.

"Nothing. Just...the house next door has been sold. I saw a boy and a girl there; they seem nice." Isabelle smiled.

"That's good. Just...don't get your hopes too high up. Please." Her father said.

Isabelle looked at him, "Okay."
