Jimin was the young age of 7 when he discovered his father was ill. He wasn't sure what the sickness was, everyone he asked would meekly shake their head. Even his own parents refused to tell him.

He couldn't help but cry helplessly as he stood in the room full of knowing adults who all thought he was too young to handle the harsh truth.

They all stared at him with pity in their eyes, and Jimin hated it. He absolutely hated the new feeling of everyone in a room looking at you as if you were the saddest thing in existence. He cried harder and no one showed any signs of wanting to comfort or calm him.

Jimin's father, who was sitting in a large chair pressed against the wall, called the young boy over. Jimin ran to his father, who grabbed him under the armpits and lifted him onto his leg. The older man gently stroked the boy's hair and wiped away his tears.

"Daddy?"

"Yes, Jiminie"

"When are you going to get better?"

The man bit his lip and avoided his son's gaze, trying to put together the right string of words to use.

"Soon." He said, deciding that lying was the best thing for him to do in that moment. He felt guilt swallow him when the young boy smiled brightly up at him.

Changing the subject, he asked, "what's your favorite number?"

"6!" Jimin answered, smile never falling.

"Alright." The man said nodding. "How about for your birthday present I make you 6 porcelain dolls? Would you like that?"

Jimin's eyes widened and glistened with pure amazement. He knew that his father used to own a doll shop and was quite skilled when it came to making dolls, so the thought of his father making them for him brought so much joy to the young boy.

He nodded excitedly and the older man smiled warmly at him.
