"I don't understand" her voice calls from the adjacent building.

"I am not explaining anything" I say as I move my legs into my chest and use my coarse hands to pick myself up off the chalky rooftop "until you tell me your name"

" I shall not tell you my name nor the reason my unfaithful legs carried me up to this rooftop, you shall know my false name if you must, Dolly" She utters as the breeze dances through her hair and lifts it above her head.

"A'right, Dolly" I sigh "I'll get it out of you someday"

I back myself up to the furthest away chimney and position my legs into a secure stance, one forward one back. I take a deep breath in, close my eyes and start sprinting towards the gap which separates Dolly and I. Granted, it was only about a 5 foot or so gap, but in this instant, I feel like I am soaring through the sky. The adrenaline rushes through my body like a bullet from a gun. I feel free.

Before I was ready my feet connect with the Dolly's rooftop. She spins around with a shocked emotion plastered on her face.

"Evenin'"  I grin lifting myself up onto the nearest chimney.

"Quite an abrupt introduction, if I do say so myself" Her eyes glitter with excitement "So, fellow roof topper, you failed to inform me of your name, so please introduce yourself"

"Finch" I state "Now we are well acquainted, why are you really up here"

"I am going to ask you first, considering are the one who was here before me, Finch" She turns her back as if to say 'end of discussion' and sits on the very edge of the building.

I follow her. I sit next to her, feet hanging over the edge of the dull building. We both focus on the vast skyline, unclouded yet not clear enough. As each minute passes, I feel myself connecting more and more with Dolly, even with the absence of communication.

"Back to my question, why are you here, Finch?" Dolly announces, breaking the silence.

"I like the rooftops, they allow me to feel free, I use them to break away from reality" I exclaim lifting my arm up everytime I exaggerate a word.

"What about falling?" She says, whispering the last word.

"I don't like the word dying, let's just call it..." I pause and think "the sleep"

"Fine, aren't you worried about falling asleep?"

"Not in the slightest" I shrug and stand up, I walk so that I am behind Dolly. I crouch down and hold her shoulders. "Look, what do you see?"

"Urm" She hesitates " I see a vast sky, which covers the entirety of this world, this burning, dreaded world"

"Continue"

"A world which is covered in disaster and hatred, and for what cause?"

I let go of her shoulders and stand back to allow her body to rise and stand opposite me.

"I like your mind, Dolly"

With that, we clicked immediately.
