We go slowly and silently through the metal halls. The sounds of fighting have long since died out, meaning they were farther from the battle.
"Who do you think won?" Sonic asks.
"Knowing Black Mist, I would say that he would do anything to win in order to boost his ego, but he can be cocky," I answer. "Meaning, I have no idea."
"That helps," Shadow says sarcastically.
"No need for sarcasm, Shadow," Silver says. "No one can know who wins."
"He's right," Atem agrees. "Let's just hope for the best."
We keep going into the depths. Eventually, we pass some tubes. I look inside and find people inside. The first one has a human boy with white, fluffy hair, and a golden ring around his neck with an eye in the middle. He feels innocent, yet there is something dark about the ring.
"Who is this?" I ask.
"Bakura," Atem replies. "That ring around his neck is the Millennium Ring. It's sort of like my Millennium Puzzle."
"Are there more of those Millennium things?" Rouge asks with a greedy glint in her eyes.
"Yes, but to control them, the person has to be able to know what the power of the Millennium Item is."
"Why would Eggman have the people from your time, too?" I wonder.
"The real question is, how does he have the fresh bodies?" Silver counters.
"True," Jet agrees.
"Maybe he still has that time travel thing from when he tried to destroy me with his past self," Sonic guesses. "You know, from Sonic Generations."
"Maybe," Silver agrees. "That would probably explain it."
Shadow pulls away. "I wonder what else Eggman has here." He goes over to another tube. "Okay, this is just creepy."
"What?" I ask. We go over, and a strange sight awaits us.
"Yugi?" Atem breathes. "What's he doing here?"
"Yugi? Yugi Moto?" I ask.
"Yes."
There in the tube, a teenaged boy lays. He looks almost exactly like Atem, but he is paler with an innocent look. Yugi Moto.
"We must keep going," I say. I go, and the rest follow.
A few yards up ahead, a black figure sits against the wall. I know instantly it is Black Mist.
He looks over to us, breathing heavily. Still, he gives us his usual smirk. "Looks like my body needs to adjust back to Barian chaos again," he jokes.
"What do you mean?" Jet asks.
Black Mist gets up, looking exhausted. "I had to resort to going Black Storm. I had no idea how long I've gone without being Chaos. Well, I'm probably not doing that for a while."
Jet offers his hover board to Black Mist. "I would never do this before, but you look like you can't go far like that. Get on."
Black Mist gets on. "I normally wouldn't accept, but you have a point there." He sits on it tiredly. "How do you control this thing?"
Jets ties a rope to a part made for the rope. "I'll just pull it. It'll take too long to teach you."
Too tired to argue, Black Mist nods. "Barian chaos is much more different from my own," he complains. "It's stronger. You know, when a human drinks some kind of alcoholic beverage that he's used to, then he drinks something stronger. That's the feeling. Kinda drunk."
"That sounds weird," Shadow comments. "The way you explained it was weird."
I shrug. "I can't say that I know the feeling."
"Astral, you have evil, too," Black Mist says. "It just hasn't come out for a while."
"Shh!" Espio, who kept surprisingly quiet, warns. He signals us to stay silent. "I feel another one."
"He's got ninja senses," Sonic says.
"I feel it, too," Black Mist says. "The all-too familiar presence of Vector. Let's go around."
We make our way around, and we thankfully encounter no Barian Emperors.
Black Mist growls softly. His beast materializes.
"See if you can scout ahead. We kind of need to stick together," Black Mist commands.
The beast nods and goes on ahead.
