So I've just had a fight with my family. It's not like I've been close with them or anything, and fights aren't very common. They only end in a few ways. My mother yelling at my dad for being a piece of shit. My brother throwing snarky remarks to my parents. My brother is okay to me. It's not like HE abuses me. That's my dad's job. Whether it's objects or his fists. I will say that I've had to go to school with bruises and cuts. I pretty much have become my own doctor. I know the ins and outs with drugs and how to heal broken bones, cuts, or infections.
I've thought about getting into the medical career because I've learned so much about it. I've had to help my best friend neighbor considering she also deals with things similar to me. Her mom died a couple years ago and it's just her and her sister. My best name's friend is Leah and her sister is Kaitlyn. They've gotten into fights with their dad, and most of the time they just come to "The Garage", It's basically our safe haven, and I help them with healing basically.
My parents basically don't care what I do, but I have learned that I have to. if I don't, then I'm screwed. Me and Leah do a lot of studying together. Since we have similar living conditions, it makes things a lot easier. There also isn't much time to do anything extra. I can't do things a normal teen would do. I have to work a job to feed myself because my family fails to do that. I work at a small diner, called Mama Megan's, and I know "Mama Megan." She treats me like family, and I'm grateful for that.
I renovated the garage so I would be able to live in it. Me and Leah fixed up a part of the garage, so my parents didn't notice that I was there. Me and Leah spend almost all of our time there, along with her sister, and it is pretty calm there.
Me and Leah both use the showers at the school before it starts. Our neighborhood is quite close to the schools, so it's about a 7 minute walk. I was lucky enough to get a phone from my parents when I was young when my family was happy together. I'm pretty sure the only reason that I still have my phone, is that my family needs the "4 for cheaper" plan so they needed me, for once.
Currently me, Leah, and Kaitlyn were walking to Kaitlyn's Middle school so we could just drop her off and go to our school, at 5 in the morning, and shower. Me and her share shampoo. Sometimes we'll have to steal shampoo from the lockers or from the drugstore because we blew our money on either cheap thrift store clothing, or drugstore makeup to look at least presentable.
"I told you, you needed to wear your jacket!" I laughed at Leah as we're walking, "At least Kaitlyn listened to me!"
"Oh, shut up. Don't ask me when your jacket randomly disappears" She looks at me and smirks.
"Touche" I reply as we're arriving at Kaitlyn's school, "Good luck at school sis. Love you" Leah says.
"Have a good day, Kait" I say to her and she smiles at me.
"You too, Brea. Love you and thanks, Leah" She smiles and goes inside the building. Kaitlyn is in 8th grade and she's 13. I'm proud of her, considering her circumstances, she still has AB honor roll. That's hard for a kid that gets bullies and only has her sister and best friend.
"You coming, Brea?" She asks and smiles, which shows her dimples.
"Yeah" and I catch up to where she is.
"Girl, you're gonna make us late one day. I'm not about to look like a Gremlin for that hotty, Jeremy" Leah tells me and I chuckle.
"He likes you, I swear it" I promise her.
"Blah, blah, blah" She mimics my voice, "So who are you interested, Ms. Love advisor?"
"I am not interested in anybody. I'm just trying to stay positive and work on my grades to get into med school" I say to her and she gets quiet.
