Prelude
This is the story of how I met my true love. The one person in the world that I was somehow connected to. I had no idea that when I actually met this being that I would love. Love. That's a concept that's hard to grasp. Not so much the loving part. I've loved before. I love my family; is that the same. Is it enough? What is love any way? How does it work? My mind doesn't process such feelings it seems. Is it possible that I over analyze everything. Some say I'm over dramatic. Am I really; or are you not dramatic enough? Could I be capable of such complicated feeling? To full-heartedly give your heart to some one seems illogical, irrational. This was not an understanding that I've come to more or less I stumbled upon it. I had never in a million years thought that someone could love me. There was absolutely no way that this could be true, was there? I found myself alone. In a new town.
This was my chance to start over. Not to be the weird smart kid. That was the plan at least. For the next 3 yrs I would try to fit in.
Chapter1: new town
As we pulled in to the dreary town Everington. The town that was some way hidden from radar, it was raining. Although it was raining everyone seemed happy. Like the constant raining had been accepted as the norm.
I couldn't help but notice that the town was so small. Like one of those places where everyone knew everyone. I hated that. The possibility that I would be noticed because, I was new. This meant that my plan was faulty. I couldn't slip through the cracks seamlessly. I would be noticed. I would be new, again. For the first time since second grade. I wouldn't have friends. As if life wasn't hard enough. I was the only child. This meant that when my parents divorced I was the most prized possession in the custody battle. I live with my mom. I figured she would need me more then ever since she was single. My dad had moved on. He was getting remarried after being with his now fiancé for 5yrs. He had someone for him, mom didn't. She was lonely. This wasn't just a fresh start for me, but for her. I couldn't leave her alone to suffer in silence. I was to stay here until she met someone nice.
"Mom," I gasped "How did we afford this?"
"Divorce settlement." She answered nonchalantly. As if this wasn't new to her.
"You get that much?" I ask so surprised.
"That plus alimony & child support." She added.
As I walked around the house, I found what must have been my new room.
I figured as much because there was a brand new laptop on the huge king size mattress that read 'ALEX' in all capital letters.
Awesome: a new house, a new laptop, a new start! What's next? A new car? In my dreams. I'm only four-teen. Barely a sophomore.
While I was day dreaming, mother walked in the room.
"So did I do well?" she asked. "On the room I mean."
"Mom," I paused. This was one of the few times I had no words. "I'm genuinely speechless." I assured her.
"I remembered that blues and purples were your favorite colors," she continued "So I hired these tall, masculine painters. It was hot so they wore no shirts, and.
"Mom!" I cut her off. "Gross."
"Oh, my havens..." she trailed off into a fantasy "I got distracted."
I rolled my eyes and walked into the kitchen down stairs.
Instinctively I raided the fridge. It was stocked with my favorite snacks. I immediately reached for a bag of grapes.
As I walked towards the sink and glanced out the window; that's when I saw her. I later found out that her name was Alice Rodriguez. She attends Everett High. The same school I would be going to after the weekend. I couldn't help but to stare. There was a radiant beauty about her. I didn't bother to speak to her. Even though I was considered cute, I could never pull her. She was light-years out of my league.
