This was taken from Edward's journal about his last three months on Earth.
1601. It was that specific year when an unidentified flying object had been seen in the sky. It was the very object that had brought me to the Philippines. Reports stated that it had possibly come from another planet far from the system where Earth belongs. Researchers named it KMT 184.5—that was where I came from. That was my home.
Actually, my home was no different from Earth, which is why I was able to adapt easily to Earth's surroundings. Proof of that is how I have lived here for more than 400 years already—waiting for that 'unidentified flying object' to take me back to where I really belonged.
I was already here when the Augustinian friars spread Christianity throughout the country. I had witnessed the turnovers of rajahs, the blood pacts of leaders and the battles over territories. I had witnessed the Philippine revolution from start to finish. I had survived throughout the Spanish, American and the Japanese colonization. I was here when the country had undergone Martial Law. And I am still here now that the country has been much more progressive and liberated.
I'm thankful for having this level of patience to wait for my ride back home, but having adapted to the Earth does not mean I blend well with the common folk. For one, my senses work ten times more efficiently than a normal human does. It may seem great, but thanks to this ability of mine, I can see or hear things that I'd rather not see or hear.
Having been born from another planet, I also cannot exchange fluid or blood with the people of Earth—which is why I eat alone.
And since time does not work the same way in Earth and in my home—evidently from the fact that I have not aged for 400 years and have physically stayed at my early twenties—I have the ability to stop time altogether.
With these abilities, one would think that I could have been a superhero—using my abilities for the greater good. But I've learned from the grave mistakes of the past. I've learned never to involve myself in the affairs of others. Some things are just bound to happen and the people of Earth call it fate.
I didn't know how long I was gonna deal with Earth's fate...until this morning. It was reported on television that a certain comet was headed for Earth and would arrive in three months. At that moment, I knew I was going back home.
I was so happy with the good news—not the giddy kind of happy, just pure, genuine happiness inside that doesn't need to be expressed openly. I was finally going home!
But the day just couldn't end on a happy note. This Earth's fate wouldn't allow it.
Fate wanted me to deal with her.

It all started when I walked towards the elevator and waited for the lift to open. When I got near, I realized that a woman was waiting as well. This woman was wearing sunglasses, dressed in designer clothes and accessories and basically looked like the rich people who lived in this building. The only weird thing was that she was staring at me casually from time to time.
But I didn't find that suspicious. Some girls would openly ogle at me while teaching in class. Some wouldn't even attempt to hide that they were staring at me while walking along the hallways of the university. Don't get me wrong—I appreciate that they appreciate my physical appearance, but it made me uncomfortable especially since I have always planned to live inconspicuously in Earth.
And then, the lift opened. I waited for her to get in first, but she was just standing and obviously still staring at me. Naturally, I went in. When I was about to press the floor button, she got in and immediately pressed her floor. I saw her press 23.
