Moka Style Klan Chowder

In an isolated part of the Louisiana Bayou a lone cabin harbored the local chapter of the KKK. It was now a refuge for Gran Wizard James Duchess and his close friend William Ernest. Jimbo was sitting on the living room couch, scanning news sources on his tablet, when Billy walked in. Back from gathering supplies.

'Quick, close the door we got enough mosquito bites last night' said Jimbo in a terse voice still staring at the tablet. 'Did You get what we need?'

'Yes I did. Just because you're the Gran Wizard you don't have to get testy.' Billy looked annoyed.

'you wore the surgical mask like I told you to?' Retorted Jimbo.

'Yes, of course.  Anything in the news on the Moka pandemic?'

'Well it looks as if your wife will have plenty of company, according to FOX news, more than 70% of the world's population is now Brown skinned as a result of the pandemic', was Jimbo's answer. 'I suppose you went to visit her when you went for supplies.'

'It's none of your business but yes I did. She is no longer contagious. Look even if she turned brown  skinned  with wavy brown hair, she is still my wife. She is the same white person inside. it's not her fault she got the Moka flue.  Just in case I wore my mask while we did it.'

Jimbo would have none of it. 'She is now a colored person Billy, she is no longer one of us. We can't have a member of us seen associating with other races. What would people say.'

'I don't care, I still love her. In any case most people in town are now brown skinned' Billy retorted.

Jimbo was going to answer back when an alert on his tablet won his attention.

'There's a breaking story on the Moka flue from the FOX News site.'

Billy got behind Jimbo so that they both could read the breaking news.

FOX NEWS - October 12, 2025.

This morning all major international media have received an anonymous communique purported to be from the person responsible for the Moka virus. In the communique the author details the motive behind his actions and hints as to his identity. Here is the unabridged communique:

Dear screwed up World,

Now that my goal of  eliminating racial discrimination has been  nearly obtained, it is time to reveal some of the mystery behind what has been called the Moka outbreak. While I will not reveal my name, I am sure the authorities will be able to identify me with some of the clues they will find in this message.

 Using the enormous wealth obtained from the sale of my pharmaceutical company, I  was able to set up an underground lab were I continued my research on creating new pandemics that would benefit humanity by changing their genetic make-up. I am the one who created the virus that has traveled the world and induced a deep change in humanity.  Using advanced CRISPR gene replacement technology, the virus replaces all the genes related to skin and hair with the custom genes I created in all the cells it infects. These genes created a skin color and hair that is an approximate blend of all the world population.

Why you ask am I doing this. It simple really; I wish to eliminate racism and discrimination. And what is racism usually based on? Appearance of course. There is also religious and cultural discrimination that I would have liked remedied, but this is harder to handle since it is intrinsically not caused by genetic factors alone ; upbringing and intelligence are the main factors. In any case part of the  more subtle gene replacement included in my viruses and more recently bacteria, are related to intelligence. Unfortunately this will not have much effect on the current population. The brain cells of the current adult world population are irretrievably programmed and, unfortunately, they do not regenerate as often as skin and hair cells. However the offspring of the world populace will benefit.

As mentioned above, I have now created bacteria that will further extend the reach of my genetic re-engineering of human kind. In addition to the flue, I have introduced the technology in all of the most common communicable diseases. This includes sex related diseases; HIV, syphilis,  gonorrhea, herpes. Foodborne diseases; salmonella, E-coli, listeria, norovirus. And finally, using the  mosquito, the best vector of all; malaria, west nile and zika. No one will be able to escape. 

I realize that a cure will be developed using similar technology. But the cure will be temporary, since the next cold, the next STD will negate the temporary respite.

Jimbo was aghast, 'Did I read this correctly. He included malaria and zika, which means mosquitoes will also be transmitting the disease!'

'We're doomed', was all Billy could respond as he missed the mosquito that was buzzing in his ear.
