when you wish upon a star
the wish that you make
will come true
maybe.
see, the thing is that
a star can only make
so many wishes come true.
and by so many, i mean
one, maybe two if there's some sort of
star viagra
involved.
usually there isn't.
and there's so many people
in the world
that could be wishing
at the same time as you.
maybe they wish for a month's rent or
to meet an old friend or
for that disneyland trip, the one they've wanted since they were 8 and are
far too old for now but
don't seem to care, because it's
just a star, right?
maybe they wish for true love.
and maybe you wish
to be happy,
and the star just asks itself
which of you is easier to fool.
because everyone knows stars love
lying.
a star can only make
so many wishes come true.

one of those people who can believe
anything a star tells them.
usually you aren't.
it makes you wonder
when you pass people on the street
if they had a star all to themselves
what would they wish for?
