You never knew that Onceler's scarf-looking thing would be such a success. Hell, he even built an entire economy out of it.

To say the least, you were living the life. You had left Onceler to do his work while you lay on a couch in the corner of his office to read a few books. You even wondered where he slept, as he was in there all the time. It passed the time rather efficiently, but you stilled longed to speak to him.

You two were more or less close friends, maybe even brother and sister. You had accompanied him to the field of Truffula trees not only to help him out on his new life, but also to spend some time with him.

Let's say that you had a thing with him. You weren't quite able to tell what Onceler's feelings were to you, but you always tried to pry his emotions apart.

It was mild though - barely noticeable. You hid it quite well, for someone to spend your whole life with him. Only now he was stirred up in his "work", so you had no chance to tell.

Meeting after meeting.

Sale after sale.

It was exhausting. You were soon running out of books to read.

You had finally decided to approach him. It was rather nerveracking, as you haven't had a full conversation with him in such a long time.

You lay your book down and walk over to his desk to face him. "Onceler."

A hint of surprise went to his face as he sat up and mumbled your name.

"You need to take a break. We're hardly spoken since your business blew up."

Onceler looked slightly guilty, but then went back to his normal composure. "What's ever to hurt in building an economy?"

Tears weld up in the corners of your eyes. "I came with you to support you, cheer you on, and overall help you build your life. And yet, all you ever do is ignore me. In fact, we haven't have had a decent conversation in the longest time."

"D-Don't cry." he stutters. He always hated when you cried. "Don't give me that look." Onceler whisks out of his chair and stares down at you into your eyes.

"I will change."

"Your actions need to change. You're destroying these forests, and are too greedy to care about anyone. Even me!"

"Y/N." He simply says.

Onceler slides around his rounded desk and steps over to you, attempting to wipe the wetness from your cheeks.

"This needs to stop." You sniff.

You knew that Onceler wasn't going to stop. He changed. He changed so much. Pride changed him, and now this was him.
