EVELYN
A middle aged woman by the name Jeanne, pondered upon the affair at hand. She pulled forth her right hand and adjusted the diamond ring in her middle finger. If her informants have been accurate about the details they had gathered, then Austin had a big fight with his girlfriend. And the girlfriend happened to be Evelyn herself. She took a sip from her Starbucks and went back to her routine daze. Something told her, Evelyn was the one behind the murder. She then glanced the thought away. "It's not possible. She's just a teenager" she sighed. But nothing was sure. Jeanne knew she was stuck in an important case. The only clue she had gathered so far, was a watch. It was on Austin's hand, no doubt, but it was not present when the murder took place; forensics have confirmed that. Something's fishy, Jeanne thought.
Two miles away at he same time, Alex was dragging Evelyn back home. Alex was expecting Evelyn's dad inside the residence. And he was right, for Evelyn's dad was standing right on the threshold. Mr. Richard Darvin was a middle aged business man, who looked confident. His looks gave way to swagger and suggested his richness of property and wealth. Alex attacked him with the information on the murder and about the police. It took some time for Richard to understand the situation completely. Evelyn took the courage to inquire her dad about her brother. She asked her dad, "Where's Simon?" Richard gave a puzzled look at Evelyn and replied "He left home by twilight too! Never turned up since yesterday evening"
"Oh, no!" She cried. "It's an important thing to share and now that madman's out there?" She screamed, retorting to tears in the end.
Richard wiped her tears out. "Eve. Everything would be alright in the end. I know it's hard to take the whole thing in. But stay calm as much as possible. You'll do good sweetie" he advised. She let the words out through the other ear, and stepped into home. "Welcome home, Evelyn!" Cried a girl, probably in her early twenties. "Hi Beth. I am not in the mood for a conversation. Could we talk later?" Evelyn replied to their home servant. Elizabeth was like family to Evelyn. Elizabeth was doing her studies and was a paid servant at their mansion. "Okay. Could I know what happened?" Asked Beth. "Austin... He.." chocked Evelyn. "Yeah? What happened to your boyfriend?" Beth countered. "He. Died", managed Evelyn before bursting into yet another club of tears. "Wait, what?" Beth interrogated. But after seeing Evelyn in tears, she decided to ask no more questions. Suddenly, there was a screech sound from outside. The anxiety in the air was broken and the duo ran outside. There was Simon, in his car."Where on heaven's have you been?" Evelyn asked Simon as soon as he entered the mansion. "I was out partying", chuckled Simon. "Shush", he added. "Don't tell dad."
"Austin fucking died!" She screamed. Simon was bewildered was a moment out there. "Yes" she continued. "My boyfriend died. And you go out PARTYING!" She cried and stormed in to her room. She locked the door behind her and sat down on her couch. She let the tears come without any stop. When your loved one dies, it's really going to be a pain in the ass. She reminisced all the memories she had with Austin. All the good times, all the meaningless fights, all the romance they had. It all came like flash before her eyes. Austin deserves to live.
She could not the resist the thought of his murder. It was then, the questions came bombarding.Who killed Austin? What was the reason? All reasons perforated through her brains and made entirely no sense. She was emotionally disturbed to an irrational extent. She simply was not in state to think. She laid down on the bed, thinking about Austin. She slept, the way she fell in love with him; slowly and then all at once.
After the knock, came Simon, to open the door. He looked straight into the eyes of a fair woman in a cop uniform. The name tag read Jeanne. Superintendent. "Yeah?" He asked, putting up the most innocent face he could. "Is this the residence of Mr. Richard Darwin?" She questioned him. Without the slightest hesitation, Simon replied in affirmative. Jeanne smirked at him. She took her shades from the slits of her shirt and wore it, hiding her cold blue eyes. "I would like to talk to Evelyn Darvin", she reported. Simon nodded and lead the way to Evelyn's room. There were three knocks, and Evelyn opened the door. "Sorry to disturb you miss" said the cop. "But if you don't mind, I would like to investigate you on Austin Yolande's murder" she proceeded, slightly tilting her shades. "Yeah, yeah, of course" Evelyn stammered and invited the cop into her room.
"How long were you too together?" The superintendent began. "2 years" Evelyn replied, with a constant struggle to control her tears. "Hmm. How close were you guys? Pretty close right? Did you guys love so much that..." "I DON'T KNOW!" Evelyn screamed at the cop, before digging her face into her palms. "Okay. I am sorry" Jeanne calmed her down, still refusing to part with her coarse voice. "What happened? Like he is dead. But something seems to be troubling you" she pressed. But she wasn't not able to derive replies from Evelyn. Jeanne got up to leave. She felt hands gripping her own. "I need to tell you something madam", said Evelyn. She somehow knew, Jeanne could help, find the person who murdered Austin. "Yeah, go on please" Jeanne insisted. "The last time I spoke with Austin, I showed him, my middle finger, before he left"
