Jamie stood out of the club feeling more nervous than he had since he could remember. He still wasn't sure if he really wanted to do this or not. These six months had been hard for him. Jamie spent the first week completely drunk trying to drown out his misery and when that didn't work he tried replacing her by visiting this club nearly every night taking home the first woman who'd accept but that didn't work either.
It was then when he realized there was nothing he could do to forget her because despite it all he still loved her. When he had found out Roxy was coming to New York a nervous excitement had taken over him. Then he heard about the "friend" and thought he would die from the jealousy alone. Despite what Veronica and Michael had told him about the guy he really couldn't believe they were only friends. All day yesterday morbid scenarios played out in his head all of them of Roxy and her "friend" together romantically. It made the carefully hidden pain flow back up to the surface making feel just as he had felt that day in her father's office when she laid out her final betrayal.
After a moment of doubt he took a deep breath and entered the crowded club. He couldn't believe he was really doing this. Last night while wallowing in his pain Veronica showed up at his door step with none other than the "friend," it took all he had not to kill the man right there. It didn't take this Lee guy much to push his buttons though. Jamie touched the bruise on his left cheek wincing slightly, for a damn college professor he sure knew how to swing a punch.
According to him, Roxy actually did feel something for him but was too scared to come to him. "She needs you Jamie; everyone around her can see that. Hell I knew it after only a few days of meeting her," Lee told him but Jamie wasn't sure he could believe it but agreed to go along with the pansy's crazy plan if for anything for curiosity.
He looked around the club and saw Lee and at his side he supposed was Roxy though he couldn't see very well. Lee looked up and saw him giving him a discreet nod. Lee made his excuse. He still couldn't get a good look at her but he saw enough to see her beg her friend to stay. He frowned feeling jealous rage inside him, she had never acted like that with him. Lee freed himself from her grip and he finally could get a good look at the woman that wrecked his world.
His breath stopped and his heart raced, after so many long months she was right there before him. He could easily see she wasn't the same woman that he left in that one horse town. She pouted as her friend left resting her chin on her hand making his body desire her with the same strength as it did before. He debated once more if he wanted to walk over to her or just leave her sitting there all alone, it was no more than she deserved.
Jamie decided he had gone this far, he might as well satisfy all his curiosity. He wanted to see how she would react at seeing him again. Would she care, like Lee suggested, or would she just treat him with indifference, like he expected. He walked over slowly making sure to avoid that she saw him before he was ready. Just as he got close to her table she stood up looking angry, turning to run directly into him. A small smile formed on his lips as he thought of the irony of it.
"Whoa easy there Fox, now where you running off so quickly." Jamie told her not being able to resist the temptation. His breath stopped as he could feel her stiffen and he felt the whole world stop as he waited her reaction. She slowly looked up at him with surprise painted all over her face and her legs gave out from under her. He had to grab her so she wouldn't fall and his whole body responded to her touch. She opened her mouth several times but she didn't seem able to get any sound to come out.
"Is it really you," she finally asked and he eyed her curiously wondering it was really eagerness he heard in her voice.
"Yes Roxy, it's really me," he said with a small smile and suddenly she wrapped her arms around his neck pulling herself up towards him and kissed him hungrily. Jamie's jaw drop in surprise, he never in his life expected this type of reaction from her. All his blood boiled as he pulled her in closer not being able to resist returning her kiss just as intense.
