'Our story is about a town. A small town, and the people who live in the town. From a distance, it presents itself like so many other small towns all over the world: Safe, decent, innocent.
Get closer though, and you start seeing the shadows underneath. The name our town is Riverdale.'

Jason and Cheryl Blossom leave Aria at Thornhill Mansion because she's fast asleep. They haven't told anyone what they are planning to do or where they are going, this is their secret. Jason wanted to tell Aria but he was afraid she would do everything in her power to stop him from leaving town.

The red-headed twins left their little sister, and in there ruby-red impala, drove off to Sweetwater river.

'And our story begins, I guess, with what the Blossom twins did this summer.'

Cheryl stepped out onto the dry gravel in her shiny, cherry-red heels and walked to the little boat that sat in the shallows. The two twins walked hand-in-hand.

'On the 4th of July, just after dawn, Jason and Cheryl Blossom drove out to Sweetwater river for an early morning boat ride.'

Cheryl tucked her curls behind her ear and looked into Jason's eyes.

"Are you scared, Jason?" She questioned, although she knew the answer.

Jason looked at her, smirked and slowly shook his head.

They drifted though river, surrounded by the woods. Although, it all went terribly wrong so fast.

'The next thing we know happened for sure, is that Dilton Doyley was leading Riverdale's Boy's Scout troop on a bird watching expedition, came upon Cheryl by the river's edge.'

"Jason."
Was all Cheryl could say while she was shivering from the cold. She had black mascara stains running through her tear tracks and her clothes were soaked. She was traumatised.

The police searched the river with the Blossom parents, a despondent Cheryl and a weeping Aria.

'Riverdale police dragged Sweetwater River for Jason's body, but never found it.'

Riverdale's people crowded round the river. Alice and Hal Cooper stood watching.

"If he is dead, Hal? I hope in those last moments he suffered. May Jason Blossom burn in hell." Alice mumbled through gritted-teeth.

'So a week later, the Blossom family buried an empty casket, and Jason's death was ruled an accident. As the story that Cheryl told made the rounds, that Cheryl dropped a glove in the water, and Jason reached down to get it and accidentally tipped the boat and panicked. And drowned.'
As for us, we were still talking about the July 4th tragedy on the last day of summer vacation when a new mystery rolled into town.'
