"Commutative property states that numbers can be added or multiplied in any order," per icoachmath. 

For example:

Commutative Property of Addition:

6x + (y + 1.5x) = 6x + (1.5x + y)

7.5x + y = 7.5x + y

Commutative Property of Multiplication:

7xyz = 7xzy
