"She's not anywhere," Malia said. She rubbed her eyes. It's been hours.
"Then where could she be?" Scott asked, desperate to know where his friend went. He knew she probably just went home, but...without telling anyone? No text message? Something was up.
Scott didn't notice that time flew by so quickly. He was so focused on finding Lydia, that he was surprised when he saw that the time on his phone was 1:49 AM. He was tired.
"Just go home, guys. I'll get Derek and we'll find her tomorrow," he finally said. As everyone left, Scott stayed behind. No way he was going to sleep while knowing that Lydia was potentially in danger.
Scott didn't know where to start looking, though. There was no scent, no evidence. She was just gone. But Scott had to begin somewhere.
So, he made his way to Stiles's house. He banged on his door. No one answered. He hit it harder.
"Stiles, if you're in there then you better come out! Where's Lydia?!" He bellowed. No answer. Scott sighed.
"What if she just went home? What if it's as simple as that? No, it's really not. She's not at home. Something happened to her," Scott said to himself.
Think, McCall. Think. Where would she be? Where would someone like Stiles take her?
The only place that came to mind was the woods. But that was ridiculous, right? What would Stiles be doing hanging out in the woods? But then again, Scott thought, in this state, Stiles could be doing anything.
So Scott ran to the forest. The atmosphere changed as he entered the woods. He felt...alone. As if all the life had been sucked out of this forest. As if there wasn't anything alive left. As if all the hope had been erased.
Scott cautiously moved through the trees. He didn't have any hope of finding Lydia there, but at the same time he knew she might have been there. He didn't know which was correct.
Suddenly, something beside Scott moved. He twirled 90 degrees and took his claws out. Scott stood still. He tried to slow his breathing, calm his beating heart. Whatever it was, was gone.
In the darkness, it was impossible to see anything. But Scott's vision didn't disappoint.
But even then he couldn't see whatever had moved. Then, he heard a voice.
"Hey, Scotty." He knew that voice.
"Stiles?" Scott called.
"Bingo," Stiles said. And then he appeared. Behind him stood two people, a man and woman. Hey we're each holding a lit lantern. Stiles looked demonic in the dim light. His smirk sent shivers down Scott's back.
"Where's Lydia?" Scott asked.
"Why are you here, Scott?"
"To find Lydia, where is she?" Scott asked again.
Stiles rolled his eyes. "You're never gonna find her. I don't even understand how you can look me in the eye after what happened. This is all your fault, you know."
"I'm sorry, okay? I don't know what came over us. We were just so desperate about defeating the enemies that we didn't want anything stopping us and-"
"NO, SCOTT! You didn't want me to stop you? You could've SAID SO TO MY FACE! You didn't have to go sneaking behind my back! You could've just TALKED TO ME! I was trying TO HELP! I don't care what you say." Stiles turned to the other two people. "Kill him." Then he vanished.
Scott looked at the girl, then the guy. "Don't do this. Please. He's crazy, don't you see? You have to help me get him back!"
"We're the ones who did that to him, idiot. We need him like that," the girl said.
"What? You turned him into that monster?!" Scott yelled. "What the hell is wrong with you?"
"He is the key to winning this war," the guy said.
"Why do you even hate my pack so much? What have we ever done to you?"
The guy looked at the girl. Then he stared back at Scott. "So he hasn't told you, has he?"
"Who? Told me what?" Scott asked, confused.
"I suggest you talk to Derek Hale. He'll have the answers alright."
Derek's hiding something? But why? What could it possibly be? Why wouldn't he tell me and the others?
"You were the ones who sent Lydia that text, weren't you? That's why Stiles came in the first place," Scott said. He was sure of it.
The girl laughed. "Oh, no. We didn't send that text. She did. We just...made her do it. You see, Stiles does have Lydia, but his plan isn't to kill her. Lydia is very powerful, and he wants her on our side. His plan is to turn her against you. Sounds bad, but don't worry, it is."
Scott was shocked. "Does Stiles even know that you're the reason that he came? Does he know you made her send that text?"
"He doesn't have to," the man spoke. "Now, you can run home and live your last week or so, or we can kill your right now. Your choice. You'll die either way."
"I thought he ordered you to kill me," Scott said.
"Well, wouldn't it be a shame if you died and never got to see all your other friends perish?" The girl said, then laughed.
"Just go, you idiot. But know that you won't be living in the very, very near future..."
