Karlie woke up excited, knowing what would happen later in the day. Karlie lifted her upper body, Taylor still asleep beside her, her chest rising up and down slowly. Karlie sat there and watched Taylor for a minute, smiling as the blue eyed girl shifted in her sleep. Karlie stood up and walked out of their shared bedroom, stopping when she saw Meredith sat in the middle of the stairs, looking pissed off as usual. The college student leaned down and pet the feline, making her purr. Karlie didn't know that though. She walked to the kitchen and began making breakfast for her girlfriend.
Taylor woke up to an empty bed and the sound of sizzling bacon. The scent travelled from the kitchen to the bedroom, making Taylor smile. Taylor unlocked her phone, double checking the time of Karlie's doctor appointment. It was at 1:30. It was currently 11:17. She had enough time to practice her voice. Taylor got up and made her way to the bathroom, Olivia bitting her toes playfully. Taylor looked down at the kitten and smiled slightly. She and Karlie had just gotten Olivia a few weeks ago, and the couple had already fallen in love with her. Taylor kicked a mouse toy to distract the cat so she could take her shower. Olivia obviously ran after it, slipping on the hardwood floors.
While Karlie was oblivious of Taylor's singing, she began making scrambled eggs for the couple. The eggs hissed in the pan as Karlie hummed an inaudible hum, smiling to herself at how well these eggs were going to turn out. Meredith had entered the kitchen sluggishly, falling at Karlie's feet. Sometimes, Karlie imagined her eldest feline having an secret life as the leader of a Russian cat mafia. Taylor loved Karlie's imagination. Taylor tried to convince her girlfriend to write a children's book about a cat with a double life, her second life being a pirate. Karlie loved the support from Taylor, but she would never do it.
All while Karlie was finishing up breakfast, Taylor was just getting out of her shower/voice practice session. Her blonde hair dripping as she walked towards her and Karlie's shared closet, thinking about what she and Karlie should wear. Yes, Karlie is capable of picking out her own clothes, but she always liked it when her girlfriend picked out her clothes. Taylor always made it so Karlie felt comfortable. Taylor picked out one of Karlie's oversized sweatshirts and a black pair of leggings for herself, and for Karlie, her favorite flannel and some black skinny jeans. Taylor began getting dressed, leaving Karlie's clothes folded on her side of the bed.
Karlie knocked loudly on the fridge door so Taylor would come down for breakfast. The two had come up with a way Karlie could get Taylor's attention. Karlie knocked on a hard surface and Taylor would gravitate to the sound. It was a pretty flawless system in the couples opinion. Taylor had just finished when she heard her girlfriend's knock. Her girlfriend's Genius sweatshirt hung around her frame, the scent of Karlie making it feel like she was being embraced by her. She made her way down the flight of stairs, ignoring the little thuds Olivia caused from following her owner to the kitchen
Just as Taylor sat at the couple's breakfast bar, a plate of eggs, bacon, and toast were placed in front of her. "For you, my princess." Karlie signed, flashing Taylor her signature smile. Taylor had always told Karlie that her smile reminded her of pure sunshine. Taylor nodded in thanks and returned a smile, ready to taste Karlie's excellent cooking. Karlie grabbed her plate of food and sat next to Taylor. She laid her hand in between the plates, hoping Taylor would grab her hand. She did. The couple ate their food in silence, the only thing Karlie has ever known.
Karlie finished eating first. She got up front he breakfast bar and made her way up the stairs. Since Taylor was already dressed, she suspected her girlfriend had picked out her clothes for her. Karlie entered their bedroom to have her suspicions proven right. She saw her outfit laid on her side of the bed. She smiled at her girlfriend's actions. It was the little things that Taylor did that made Karlie's heart flutter. Picking out her clothes, leaving little love notes around the house, anything really. Karlie quickly got dressed, throwing on her worn white converse. She checked her phone for the time. 12:58. She rushed downstairs. She was going to hear Taylor's voice, the first sound she'll ever hear.
