Prologue

"Stop the car. I'll be fine here." I immediately stop the car as what Dad instructed. He fixed the bouquet of white roses his holding before he got out of the car.

He's walking slowly and calmly in a place that no one left without shedding their tears. I sighed before stepping out of my car. I watched Dad from afar as he stops in front of the only woman he ever loved.

I took out one of my cigars and put it on my lips before lighting it up. I puffed, still looking at Dad.

He kneeled down before putting the bouquet in front of her. He's not talking verbally, but I know deep inside he's talking to her in his mind. I saw Dad slightly smile before he raises his pinky finger like he always does.

He got up and started walking towards me. Tinapon ko ang cigar at inapakan. Dad saw what I just did so he raised his eyebrows, waiting for an explanation.

"Once in a week, okay? I'm trying Dad." depensa ko. Dad doesn't want me to smoke anymore pagkatapos niyang malaman a month ago na I'm already smoking at the age of eighteen. It's not easy to let it go lalo na at almost two years ko na 'tong ginagawa.

I seriously don't know why he wants me to stop, well of course aside sa reason na it's bad for my health. Maybe because he don't smoke? Yeah. Unusual for someone like Dad to not smoke.

Or maybe it's because of her?

Dad smiled at my response and tapped my shoulder. Umalis ako sa pagkakasandal sa kotse at binuksan ang pinto ng passenger seat. Bago pa man siya makapasok ay nagsalita ako.

"Dad?" he stopped and looked at me. "I know I don't have any rights to meddle with your past, but why don't you just move on?" he smiled slightly before looking back to where he just went.

"I did think about that," he looked at me still wearing the smile. "A lot."

"And?" I asked curiously.

"I just wasted my time thinking." He chuckled.

"Dad, I don't know what happened between the two of you but it's been 25 years already." Dad closed the door and looked at me again.

"Son, I think it's time for you to know." Kinabahan ako bigla sa sinabi ni Dad. He never open up his past to anyone.

"You sure?" I asked confused but he just smiled at me.

"Of course." Nilahad ni Dad ang kamay niya kaya nagtataka akong napatingin sa kanya. "Hand me the key. I'll drive." Nginitian ako ni Dad kaya binigay ko agad ang susi.

"Let's go back to where we first met. Shall we?"
