Chapter 2:

I had no idea who would be calling me. All of my friends have my cell phone number. I got up from my bed and went downstairs to get the phone. "Who is it?" I asked. She just shrugged her shoulders and went back to making a smoothie. "Hello?" I said while walking up the stairs to go back in my room. I plopped onto the bed just as the person answered.

"Carissa! It's me, Rachel!" she said sounding really cheerful. "Hey!" I said my mood suddenly brightening. "So, are you busy? If you're not could we hang out? We could go shopping, go to the movies, stay at my hous-" I cut her off. "Sure, Rachel. I have to ask my mom first though. Hold on." I told her. "Okay." was her reply.

"Hey, Mom. Can I hangout with my friend?" I asked as soon as I got down the stairs. She looked up from making her smoothie.

"Honey, it's great you have a new friend, but not tonight. How about  Friday night? I have to talk to you after you get off the phone, okay?" she said. "Okay." I said, feeling a bit sad.

"Sorry, Rachel. My mom said I couldn't tonight, but maybe Friday night. Is that okay?" I said Rachel. "That's fine with me, but I'm not Rachel." a deep male voice answered.

I yelped in surprise. The person on the other line burst out laughing. I scowled, but he couldn't see me. I faintly heard Rachel say "Ryan, give me my phone back." He replied with a "Never. Who are you talking to?" "My name is Carissa and I am Rachel's friend. Will you please give the phone back?" I asked. "I think I will keep it." Ryan said.

"Mom! Ryan took my phone and won't give it back." I heard Rachel yell. I heard a muffled voice that yelled something back. I heard some shuffling and Rachel was suddenly on the phone again. "Sorry about that. Friday is fine." "Okay, thanks. Well, I have to go. See ya later." I said to her in a cheerful voice. "Bye." she said before the line went dead.

I made my way to the kitchen to see what my mom wanted to talk about with a big smile on my face. Whatever she wanted to talk about must be important, but then again, she always made things seem important tahn they really were.

"Hey, Mom. What do you want to talk about?" I asked her with my huge smile. "How was your first day? I believe you made a new friend today. Am I right?" Mom asked, sounding very pleased about my huge smile. I was in a very good mood.

"My day went really well. Rachel was very nice. She is my only friend right now. No one else really talked to me." I told my mom. I was starting to feel a bit sad about no one else talking to me, but I soon got over it. "Can I hangout with her Friday night? You said I could. She is really cool." I told Mom. I was soon forgetting about how Callie was acting and looking forward to Friday.

"Of course sweetie. I want you to make new friends and have fun. Now, I have to get dinner started. It will be ready in 30 minutes." Mom said.

I walked up the stairs and went to my room. I plugged my alarm clock up and out on some music. I started putting away all of my stuff and find places for them.

After about 30 minutes I still wasn't done, but I had to eat dinner. Dad had just gotten home from his business meeting. We only moved because he had got a better job offer here.

"Hey, kiddo. How was school?" He asked the second he saw me. "It was pretty good. I made a new friend and her name is Rachel." I told him while sitting down at the table. "Well that's great!" he said then started rambling on about his work today.

When I finished my dinner, I excused myself and when up to my room.  I started to finish unpacking and put away my things. I taped my pictures onto the wall just like at the house. I now have more wall space because this room is so much bigger.
