There used to be five of us, but now it's only me. Landon, Bree, Rayane, and Leslie are gone. They disappeared; they let their sanity slip away. The first few days on the island were fine, relatively speaking. I mean of course we got exiled here but at least we all had each other and were sound of mind.
Everything changed on our third night. That's when it began; the insisting whispering and screeching that started at sunset and didn't end till dawn. They were calling us whatever they were, coaxing us to go to them. We were able to resist the whispers the first time, able to cling onto each other and tough it out. But they got to us eventually one by one we began to crack and crumble. They wormed their way into our minds. Even when they stopped we could still hear them; a constant replay of screeching and calling. It didn't take long before one by we wandered off in search of the other beings on the island, in search for the quiet we crave so much. Hoping that in finding them we could also reclaim our sanity.
I held out the longest, but it wasn't soon after the others that I caved as well. It was easier with them here. Now the whispers follows me everywhere I go, there's no running from it, all I can hear is, Kaya, Kaya, Kaya... and I know that I've reached my breaking point, my sanity has vanished and now I'm going to get it back going the voice and putting an end to it .
I ended up in a cavern. Inside the noise stopped, all went quiet. This is where my sanity escaped to. Relieved I fell to my knees. Maybe that's why the others didn't come back, maybe once they found peace they stayed. Hope coursed through me at the thought of finding my companions but was cut short when I heard a high pitched screech.
They jumped down from the walls and closed me in from all directions, screeching and yelling my name. Their arms reached out grappling for me, claws slashing through the air in search of my flesh, there murky white eyes staring at me blindly, fighting one another to reach me first. I was too stunned to move, too stunned to even scream as I stared at what become of my companions. I let them descend on me, hoping my death would be quick, craving the silence it would bring me. I closed my eyes as the first creature reached me, feeling its claws tear into my flesh. Soon the others joined, but the peace I so desperately craved never came. I wasn't lucky enough for death. I joined them. Became the creature, forever trapped in a sweet insanity, forever deprived of silence.
