Tessa is to the right! :D Hope you enjoy x

It took us an hour to get to Left Peak Beach. Personally, I thought that a walk one a beach was the most romantic thing that any guy has ever done for me. Then again, I didn’t have much to compare this to. There weren’t many people on the beach since Friday nights were party nights in Belford.

As we started walking on the beach, I realized how gorgeous it was at night. The moon’s light reflected on the dark waters and created a hauntingly beautiful scene. The sand felt like heaven between my toes. The wind picked up and blew my hair all around, creating a crazy new hairdo. At that time and place, there was nowhere that I’d rather be. I closed my eyes and felt at peace with myself.

“It’s almost eleven,” Brett whispered in my ear. My eyes shot open and widened.

It’s eleven already?!

Time really does go by quickly when you’re having fun. I didn’t want to go home but then again, what girl would? Walking on a breath-taking beach with the hunky guy of your dreams was every girl’s fantasy.

“Okay, let’s go before my mom alerts the police.” He chuckled before leading me to his car.

Before he started the car, Brett turned to me and shoved his phone in my hand.

“May I please have your number?” His face was tinted pink.

I giggled and added it to his contacts list.

This was definitely going in my diary tonight.

Unfortunately, the ride to my house was unusually fast. Like the gentleman he was, Brett walked me to my door.

“I had so much fun! Thank you so much,” I gave him the biggest smile that I could muster up and hugged him. He squeezed me back before stepping away.

“We should do this again. I’ll text you later.” He bent down and his eyes slowly closed. My heart was beating a thousand times per minute.

He’s gonna kiss you! Don’t be nerd. Pretend like this isn’t your first kiss.

His lips made contact with my skin; only, he placed them at the corner of my mouth. I couldn’t help but feel disappointed. Having my first kiss with Brett Collins would’ve been amazing. But, I felt giddy again when I recalled what he said.

                “We should do this again…”

With a big smile, I opened up my front door. “Good night,”

                “Night,”

I pressed my back against the door and let out a dreamy sigh.

That was so surreal… Definitely the best day of my life.

Later, following a twenty five minute interrogation from my mom, I was changing into my Hello Kitty pajamas when I received a text. Since I, too, had programmed Brett’s number into my phone, I knew it was him. I broke out into a large smile and opened the message.

the date was a mistake. it was a pity date.  i’m with laura now, sorry.

My smile faded. As soon as I read the first sentence, tears were forming in my eyes. When I was finished with the text, the tears were cascading down my face. Out of anger and betrayal, my phone was thrown across the room.

How could he do this to me?

Brett was no better than Laura. They belonged together. Brett was Ken and Laura was Barbie. I shouldn’t have gotten between them.
