My alarm clock went off and I groaned quietly. Still, my head hurt. I had an awful hangover. But I was used to it. I'm an alchaholic and I'm not afraid to admit it. No point in hiding from the truth.
"Shut up!" I screamed at the object.
I slammed my fist down on it and the beeping stopped, allowing me to relax a bit. I had to be at work in an hour. Maybe I could call in sick. Maybe I could say I have family in the hospital that I have to visit. No, I've already used all my personal days and everyone knows I have no family.
I slowly made my way out of bed. I showered, drank a cup of coffee, got dressed in my suit and tie, and got into my old green jeep.
When I got to the school, I went straight to my office and began falling asleep on my desk.
"Mr.Repko?" I heard the voice of one of the little brats say.
"Yes?" I asked, slurring my words as if I were drunk all over again.
"May I meet with you after lunch today?" The teenage girl asked.
I nodded and she left, seeing she had bothered my relaxation time.
There was a time when I loved my job, loved these teenagers, loved being the guidance counselor the students relied on. But now, I hated everyting. My job, my house, my car, my life. Everything.
I find hapiness in a beer bottles and cigarette catons. I hate the site of those little animals, as they walk through the halls. I've lost all hope, I've gone mad. I haven't smiled in who knows how long. What happened to the happy Michael Repko I once knew? I don't know, I guess he just moved on. My name is still Michael Repko but I'm a spiteful, miserable human being now.
That's what life does to you. It's not all miracles and love. You try your hardest and look where it gets you. See, that's why I've given up on life. I'm just plowing through life and waiting for the end. With each cigeratte, my life grows shorter. It brings me closer to a painful, yet oh so peacful death.
