Fire and Ice

Some say the world will end in fire,

Some say in ice.

From what I've tasted of desire

I hold with those who favor fire.

But if I had to perish twice,

I think I know enough of hate

To say that for destruction ice

Is also great

And would suffice.

~Fire and Ice~

I'm going to kill him. Alec Taylor has gotten on my last nerve! Never mind that he's my step brother and that Eric would most likely kill me for hurting his son afterward. Or that I may have the biggest crush on him. He's an ass and has gone too far this time and I won't take it anymore!

"ALEC!!! GIVE ME BACK MY BOOKS!!!" I yell at the top of my lungs to no avail.

Wherever he went he can't or doesn't want to hear me. I have no idea what he did with all the books that I had on my bookshelf in my room. I came home from school today to find them gone. Of course I knew is was Alec who took them because he's always bugging me about my reading habit and taking every opportunity to make me feel less than human.

I sigh as I walk around the house trying to figure out where the latest hiding place may be. He always takes something of mine but never my books, he knows those are off limits, or they were.

"When I find you, I'm so going to kill you." I mutter to myself.

Looking throughout the living room for any sign of my books I happen to look outside the window that leads to our backyard. We live in a secluded area that is surrounded by woods on two sides, no one can see us from the sides that are open though cause Eric built a fence around the house. There's a giant blazing fire in the center of our backyard where we usually make camp fires in the summer. This fire however is way bigger than any we've ever built.

I  let out groan of frustration, I know exactly who built that fire, he's the only one home besides me. My mom is at the agency and Eric is still at the department. Alec, you are so busted! I make my way to the backyard door and open in to the cool November air.

Alec is standing in front of the blazing fire seeming to be very engrossed in it, "ALEC TAYLOR! Where are my books?!" I demand.

He turns his head to look back at me and an evil smile forms on his lips before he flourishes his hand and points to the fire. I stare at him confused. Why is he pointing at the fire? I see him bend down and pick something off the ground that looks like my Hunger Games book before he makes a gesture like he's going to throw it in the fire.

I take a step forward my eyes glaring at him as realization hits me. He. Threw. My. Books. In. The. Fire?!

"Who. The. Hell. Do you think. You. Are?!" I yell as I walk forward and push him with all my strength causing him to stumble backward. Shock registers on his features, as he stares at me wide-eyed.

I know he wouldn't think that I have the strength to fight him any day, but I do. Just because I choose to read and work on the computer instead of playing sports and video games. Just because I'm his exact opposite, because we're fire and ice, doesn't mean that I don't work out, eat right and have strength.
