I'm not gonna lie, I'm a bit embarrassed for eating two sandwiches, but not enough to stop eating them, I looked up from my sandwich and saw Caleb staring at me from the other side of the island.

"What?" I asked after swallowing the last bite.

"When was the last time you ate some thing?" he joked but my answer was dead serious.

"Well I think it was Tuesday and it's Thursday now so ....two days" I said, and watched the smile fall from his face.

"Your serious?" He asked and I nodded.

"Don't your parents feed you or check that your eating at least?" he asked and I felt the pain pull at my heart and the tears surface but I swallowed the lump in my throat.

"Urm I live alone"i muttered, looking back at the empty plate in front of me.

"Why? where are your parents?"he asked softly.

"Urm ....My mom and sister were killed in a car accident 3 years ago"i whispered hoping he wouldn't hear but I could tell he did.

"Oh Riley I'm so sorry I didn't know"i said hurriedly I just nodded"what about your dad?"but that's where I draw the line.

"So what time is it?"i asked hoping he would drop the subject and after a while I could tell he wasn't going to.

I sighed "he left 6 months after the accident"

"I'm sorry Riley"he muttered shaking his head.

"Don't be I'm not"i stated, anger bubbling inside me.

"Why?"he asked

"He was horrid person"I yell,tears falling down my face.

Just looking at Caleb you could tell he was confused just like everyone else in school but I wasn't going to tell him what that man did but before He could ask about it a tall women walked in she looked beautiful with her black hair in a neat bun and a smart suit on, she smiled.

"Oh sweetheart your awake how are you feeling?"she asked walking closer to me.

"Urm I'm fine thank you urm-" but before I could say anything else she pulled me into a small hug.

After pulling away she placed her hand out in front of me and as a reflex I flinched but hoping she didn't notice I shook her hand and even though I could tell she and Caleb noticed she smiled and explain "I'm Victoria I'm caleb's mother but you can call me Vic"

"Hi... I'm Riley" I smiled.

"Well Riley you are always welcome here and it was lovely to meet you"she beamed

"Thank you so much"i told her. after not having a parent for 3 years this is the most amazing feeling in the world.

"That's quite alright dear now you two have fun I'll be back later tonight"she said before leaving the house.

"Your moms lovely"i said

He just chuckled "that's one way to put it"

"Your house is huge it's so beautiful"i told him

"Thanks but I better get you home before your brother beats me up for keeping you"he smiled.

I sighed"my brother doesn't live with me

"I can't say anything right"i heard him mutter "well do you wanna stay over you can sleep in my room or we have guest rooms?"he asked hopefully

After a debate with my self I decided.

What the hell.

"I would love to stay thank you... but I don't have any clothes for school tomorrow" I frowned.

But he just smiled "well let's go grab some from your place then"
