Betty's POV:
Polly drags me around the city until we find a bridal shop. I honestly don't expect to have any luck because of the understated facade of the place, but inside are hundreds of beautiful white dresses. I can feel the excitement starting to grow within me.
I try on a dozen dresses, but none of them seem to be just right, and so my excitement starts to fade.
"Polly, I don't know if I'm going to find a dress I really love... I just don't think this is really my thing. Maybe you should just pick one for me."
"Not at all!" She says, sounding incredibly indignant. "You'll find one... I promise..."
Just then my phone rings and it is Jughead.
"Hello?" I say with a smile. "Yeah, I'm just out with Polly looking for a wedding dress... You want to meet us?"
Polly starts vigorously shaking her head. "Absolutely not." She takes the phone from me and holds it to her ear. "Hi, Jughead? If you show up here I'm going to break you. You can't see her wedding dress before the wedding, it's bad luck. What do you mean, you don't believe in that stuff? Well I do, Mister, and you won't be marrying Betty if you step foot in this place. Bye-bye..." She hangs up on him and I can't help but laugh.
"Polly!"
"What? It's bad luck and that is the last thing any of us need... Plus I want to see his face when you walk down the aisle," she says defensively.
"Fine." I roll my eyes and go back to looking.
At the end of the row is a dress that truly gives me that 'wow' moment. I grab it quickly and run try it on.
I know the moment that the silky fabric hits my body, it is the one. It hits barely below my knee in a very elegant sort of way, with lacy off-the-shoulder sleeves that come to my elbow. It flows out slightly in a way that makes it seem retro, and I absolutely love it.
I open the curtain to show Polly and she can't contain her tears.
"Oh, Betty... You look beautiful... This is perfect for you."
I smile shyly. "You really think so?" I look down at it and run my hands over the skirt.
"Most definitely. Please tell me you love it..." She begs.
I can't help my grin. "I love it... I really, really love it." I then look at the price tag and my smile fades. "But Pols, I can't afford it... Not with the move coming up."
"Oh, you didn't think you were paying for it, did you? Betty, I'm using the money Jason and I had saved... It was supposed to be for our wedding, but now I want it to be for yours. That's the only truly good thing it could be put towards- your happiness."
I cover my mouth. "Oh Polly, you can't do that... That's... That's your money..."
"No, it's your money now. I need to experience one perfect wedding," she smiles sadly.
I hug her quickly. "I don't know how to thank you..."
"You can thank me by walking down that aisle and marrying the luckiest guy in the world," she laughs, hugging me back. "Now come on, let's pay for it before we get tears all over it..."A/N: sorry it's such a short chapter, but I really wanted to have this cute little scene before diving into anything else!
