My eyes flutter open to reveal the harsh light of the sun. I must have fallen asleep on a bench at the pool… the pool…

“Cal!” I instinctively call out.

“It’s ok, Adelyte. Cal’s getting checked up on as we speak.”

“But- the pool, he just- he- what’s going on?”

“Cal was drowning, you went after him and started drowning also. I went in and I got you both, Valentine called 911 and they took you two to the hospital.”

“Yes, but is Cal okay?” I wouldn’t even care if he had told me I had died and I was a ghost. I needed to know if Cal was okay. Because if he wasn’t, wouldn’t that be my fault? No. He had to be okay.

“I’ll check on Cal after I know that you’re fine.” He looked at me with sympathy for what happend. “Yes, dad. I’m fine. Never been better, in fact. Please go check on him now. Please.” “Adelyte, calm down. I’ll go check up on him.” He walked out the room and closed the door softly behind him.
