Scars

I make these scars

On my arm

To show them

They can't hurt me

I don't cut myself

Far from it

I look to the future

I hope for happiness

But I do scratch my arms

When I'm nervous or angry

I do write their hatred

The names they call me

I wear different scars

The temporary kind

'Cause emotions fade

And friends stay by your side

These temporary scars

Are marks of moments

Not just hatred

All kinds of emotions

I have this journal

Where I write my life

The emotion in moments

Happiness and strife

I write these poems

Pieces of my heart

My permanent scars

Each a work of art

Scars should be acknowledged

Not just the ones of hatred

But also the ones we get

From change and love
