"Mum?" I call, opening doors and looking into different bedrooms throughout the small flat. I don't get a reply. I sigh, walking into the bottom floor of the flat. I look around, behind the small sofa, inside the closets. I open the small guest room and scream. "Mum!"
"B-Birdie, I-I-I love y-you. G-Go." She says, choking on her own blood, I run to her, caressing her petite body.
"I love you too mum." I cry, my tears landing on her dirty blonde hair- similar to mine. "Who did this to you?"
"H-Ha-Harry." She says, her eyes closing slightly. My eyes widen at the mention on his name- no it could be anybody named Harry.
"No, mum stay! Stay!" I yell as I see her blue eyes dull. She gives me a small smile and her body goes limp. "Mum!" I scream, but I know shes already gone. I can't get her back. She's gone.
I place my lips onto her forehead, kissing my mum goodbye. "I love you." I say in between my tears. I lift her body to the bed, walking away.

I walk along the sidewalk, rubbing my hands over my arms as an attempt to warm them. I forgot my jumper. I, only wearing skinny jeans and a tank-top is not good for the weather in London. I walk into the local park; trying to find a bench that I would be able to stay on.
I sit on the grass, my legs ache and I'm afraid if I go any farther I may pass out. I pull my dirty-blonde hair up into a ponytail and lay my head back.
I notice shadows near the trees, but I shrug it off, not wanting to scare myself. The shadows move closer every few seconds and it is hard not to think of anything that will be coming to get me. The dark shadow is probably about 3 feet in front of me now and I swallow the lump in my throat.
"I'm so sorry." The man says, his voice low and raspy, he runs off back to the trees.

This is the first chapter of 'Birdy' and also my first book! I really hope everyone likes it. If I get 5 reads and 3 votes I'll continue yeah? I have a good feeling about this book, and this chapter was short, but the chapters will get longer as the book continues, if I get the reads and votes, I'll make the next chapter quicker than I usually will. I don't know what my update schedule will be yet, but with the next few chapters I'll probably put it one of my A/N's. Anyways, vote, comment and read!
