how cute is this behind the scenes pic of em and chandler?
i was rewatching season five and i really took note of the relationship between carl and eleanor and how much it has evolved
like when el was introduced as an important character in season four at the prison she was just this really sweet girly girl very bubbly and kind despite being an orphan and emmaline played her very likable
but season five just pulled back this whole new layer of her character
like you know she's still very sweet and kind but somethings snapped a little bit like when she threatened father gabriel or told carl to burn the music box her entire demeanor just changes and it gives her a whole new edge
and i was watching and i was like
oh my god
she's carl
she's season three carl
she's accepted the world around her for what it has become and is distrusting of it she's not afraid to kill to protect those she cares about she's becoming hardened
i think this change in her character will help her come to accept what carl did to her brother, how it was just sheer adrenaline and fear. she's experienced the real world and i think season six will see some more movement in carl and el's relationship.
carl though is definitely worried for her just because i think he sees his younger angry self reflected in her and he doesn't want her to make the same mistakes he did. carl's starting to soften up for her and is doing his best
let's be honest the scene where she friendzoned him was literally the best scene in the whole show. the acting was so funny and spot on. there's just something about those two characters together, it has to be em and chandler's chemistry and the fact they're so comfortable with each other. they'll just be standing next to each other in the background of a scene and i'll be like *keyboard smash*
but honestly, i think just emmaline as a person and eleanor as a character are just so naturally funny she does take kudos for most of the shows comic relief bc she brings humor into lines that i think weren't even originally intended to be funny it's the mannerisms and the way she speaks idk what but the show is so much better with her in it
