an- Sorry for another fairly short chapter

Idla sulked in her room. Ever since he had seen the threat letter, Kyle was having soldiers watching always except for when she was on the toilet and she wasn't happy about it. She hated having them fawning over her, asking that she was okay. She could look after herself, and Kyle knew that. He knew better than anyone, after all, he had taught her to defend herself. She had told him as much, but he had simply brushed it off saying that it was better this way. Idla knew he was worried about her, but she couldn't help think that it was a bit extreme. She didn't like it.

She decided to try and talk to Kyle again, so she walked up to her guard and demanded to be taken to Kyle. The guard looked amused at her demanding tone, and even more so as she marched ahead of him down the hallway.
"Princess Idla, please slow down," he called as he hurried after her, smiling. "The person who ordered the threat letter could be in the castle, you need to be protected."
Idla stopped walking and turned to look at the guard. He was a good head taller than her but she didn't care.
"Look- Jules isn't it?"
The guard nodded.
"No offense, but I'm sick of being babysat. I'm not a baby, in case you haven't noticed, and I can take care of myself!"
"I'm sure you can," Jules smirked, unbelieving. For that, Idla kicked him in the shin. Considering she was wearing high-heeled boots with pointed toes, she knew it would teach him a lesson. And it did. His leg buckled from the pain and shock and he cursed colourfully. All act of being polite and well-mannered for the princess left him. He straightened up to his full height, his vibrant green sparking angrily.

"You're playing a dangerous game, Miss."
"Then you better not get in my way."
"I don't think so. You might think you can get whatever you want because you are the princess, but you can't push me around!"
"I don't think that at all, and it isn't a matter of pushing you around. I just want the respect a princess should get from her soldiers!"
"Well, you won't get that from me!"

Suddenly, a giant explosion rattled the windows of the castle and shook the ground, interrupting their argument. Jules was unbalanced and couldn't recover because of his sore leg and fell over, but because of hours practicing poise, Idla wasn't affected, but barely swayed. She inwardly snorted at the sight of him sprawled on the ground, but then she spoke, "What was that?"
Jules got off the ground and smiled grimly. "The signal."
"Wha-?"
And then everything when black.
