It's quiet, Jose and Sydney are on their iPhones playing Flappy Birds in Joses' parent's car, in the middle of a desert. When it got dark, Jose's mother told his father to stop at the next town, so they could get some sleep and charge their phones. He said he had it under control. So when it was pitch black outside ,there was a lot of noise, and Jose's father fell asleep at the wheel. They were in the middle of nowhere and drove off the road. Sydney and Jose jumped out of the car because his mother told them to. When they jumped out the car, it was still spinning out of control.
"That was crazy" said Jose.
The car stopped but fell down a cliff before his parents could escape. Jose yelled "Mom Dad!" but there was no sound. Sydney said they have to go. She said they can't stay here. So they grabbed some supplies Which flew out of the car. She said they had six bottles of water and four granola bars. Once they had everything they needed from the wreck, they started walking.
When morning came they were tired, so tired they almost fell sleeping. They found some shade and rested for a while. When they woke up, it was around noon. Jose woke up Sydney and said "We need to find some food because they had enough to drink." Sydney said "That wasn't needed because they have all the food and water they need because of the pool of water and fruit there."There was strawberries, bananas, and the pineapple. Jose knew that she was hallucinating because there was nothing there. He snapped her out of it, but thought he was hallucinating too because he saw a river. He was amazed! He ran up to it and touched it to see if it was real. When he touched it was real and told Sydney they needed to drink the water they had and start walking along the river because they could end up finding a town.
It's been three days since the accident, and Jose is starting to think about a lot of things. He's says "Is Sydney and I going to be stranded in the desert forever? Are we ever going to find a town? Is my Mom and Dad ok? Are they stranded to? Are we ever going to find an end to this river?" When all of a sudden, they hear a noise. Sydney said, "what was that?" Jose was wondering what it was to. Then they heard it again. When they see two guys are in a dune buggy. Sydney and Jose were yelling to get there attention. When they got their attention they sprinted over to them. They asked if they can get a ride to the nearest town. They said they had enough room in their truck for three. Jose said he can ride in the back. They agreed to help them. When they got in the truck, they saw a missing picture in the newspaper. It was Jose's parents. Sydney didn't want to tell Jose because she didn't want him to worry.
When they got to town, the two people who helped them dropped them off, gave them ten dollars, and told them to don't get lost in the desert again. When they left, Sydney told Jose about what she saw. Jose went the police station, and told an officer. He replied by saying follow me. When he took them to the hospital, Jose found his parents. He was relieved. He saw his mom open her eyes. She told him that were in fair condition, and it will be at least a week. The officer took the kids to a motel, and they stayed there until Jose's parents were out of the hospital. Then they got a new car, and drove home. Jose's mom said that she was proud of both of them for surviving in the desert, and finding them. Then they went home to stay somewhere where they can't fall off of a cliff, or be in a desert.
