I sat in my room waiting for Bruce to get home. He promised me that we would actually hang out together.
I've missed him. Yeah I see him everyday, but I missed him training me by himself one on one.
Black Canary is great, but she's not Bruce.
I heard the door open I quickly ran downstairs.
"Bruce!" I ran up to him and hugged him.
He hugged me back, but had the guilty look.
"We aren't going anywhere aren't we?" I said immediately feeling down.
"Dick I'm sorry, but you know I have to go I promise tomorrow"
"That's what you said yesterday" I walked upstairs ignoring his calls.
I slammed the door to my room as loud as I could on purpose.
I threw my glasses off and fell onto my bed. Closing my eyes I imagined myself with Wally playing video games and eating popcorn I wish he was here, but him and Barry went on some trip around the world, but who knows where they are.
I heard my phone buzzing I smiled seeing it was Wally wanting to video chat me.
"Dude!"
"What's up?"
"I just ate the BEST pizza ever"
"Let me guess your in Italy?"
"Nope I'm at Pizza Hut in Gotham wanna meat up?"
I got out of my room looking downstairs seeing Bruce was gone and Alfred was in the kitchen.
"Yeah I'll be there in a little bit"
"You ok?" He asked stuffing a piece of bread into his mouth.
"I'm not feeling the aster right now I'll tell you about it when I get there"
"Yeah dude see you"
I snuck out of the mansion with my hoodie over me and my dark sunglasses and ripped jeans. If you were to look at me you would think I'm just an ordinary boy walking the streets and not Richard Grayson the ward of Bruce Wayne I wasn't in a mood to be kidnapped or people stopping by asking to take a picture.
I walked the streets when I saw a figure I smiled.
"Hey Catwomen"
"Dick you know you could call me by my real name"
"Yeah but Catwomen seems more cool"
She smiled walking with me.
Honestly she could probably pass as my mom.
"Why you walking by yourself?"
"I'm meeting my friend at pizza hut your welcomed to join"
"I'll pass, but wouldn't Alfred take you over there?"
I looked at her even with my glasses in she could somehow feel my well feelings.
"Ok.... You snuck out why?"
"I'm just mad a Bruce" I said kicking a rock.
"Argument?"
"No, it's just with the justice league and his job as Bruce Wayne has made him so busy he hasn't time to actually spend time with me just to hang out...I get he HAS to go to those meeting he HAS to help the Justice League just like I am dedicated to my team, but I consider him my dad I guess I sometimes wish things were the same like they used to when he first took me in taking the time to train me falling asleep with me when I have nightmares about....my family I-I still have them, but I handle them on my own now. He's always up late at a meeting..."
Cat women sighed.
"I'll be right back" she said as she jumped onto the railings above disappearing.
I walked into Pizza Hut seeing wally in the corner.
He looked at me and waved as I walked over sitting at the booth table.
I put my hoodie down, but keeping my sunglasses in putting my hands in front of me.
"Dude why so hidden?"
"I don't want people seeing that I am Dick Grayson"
"Dick if the team can't find out who you are with sunglasses I'm sure the press won't either"
I sighed.
"Yeah I guess your right"
I relaxed a little.
"So what was wrong with you?"
"I just needed to get out of that mansion, it could sometimes be a little well overwhelming"
Wally bursted out laughing catching the attention if some people. I covered my face really quick.
"Wow you actually didn't say just whelmed"
"Yeah yeah"
"But you sure that was all that was wrong?"
"Yeah dude I'm sure"
"Ok just making sure"
I felt someone sit next to me I immediately knew who it was.
"Hey Selina"
"Hey Dickie"
"No no no I'm the only one who could call Dickie here Dickie" Wally said.
Selina rolled her eyes then turned to Dick.
"Hey wanna crash at my place after you and your friend eat"
"Who is she?" Wally asked.
"Wally this is Selina Kyle Selina this is Wally West"
"Oh are you related to Iris West?"
"Yep"
"Cool"
"I'll go ahead and go right now I'm not really that hungry"
Selina gave me a sad smile.
Before I left Wally yelled from across the restraunt.
"Dick do you have money on you I'm short $5!"
Everyone's heads pirked up.
"Run" I said.
Selina and I ran up the doors flipping onto the stairs above. That's what I liked about her she and I could do stuff Bruce and I never could.
We smiled as the press lost us.
I followed her into her secret home she said she's had since she was around my age maybe younger.
I always found it beautiful her home it felt bright while the mansion was filled with pain.
"Does Bruce know I'm spending the night?"
"Do you want him to?"
I shook my head.
"It's hard to believe that you are 13 whwn Bruce was 13 he was so serious and your so..."
"Childish?"
"Your just you"
She took my glasses off.
"I've always loved those blue eyes of yours that's what made me fall in love with you."
"I remember Bruce called you up because he couldn't get me down when I was hiding in the chandelier because I thought I was in trouble and I didn't want to get punished so you climed up there and said..."
"That I will tell you a secret if you get down do you remember what that was?"
"Bruce was a softy"
I smiled she laid me down on the couch.
"Sleep Dick you need it"
She covered me with a soft blanket and I soon closed my eyes and fell asleep.
I woke up screaming tears in my eyes I felt arms around me it was Selina. I hugged her back feeling the warmth of her hug.
"You said you handled these on your own a boy like you should not be having nightmares every night"
I wiped away the tears, but with everyone I wiped away another took it's place.
"It's ok Selina..."
"No it's not"
