I sat on the school roof, hugging my knees. I stared up at the sky.
"It's a nice day, isn't it?" I heard a voice asked.
I turned my head and saw a black haired boy with freckles. I tilted my head for a moment and then grinned.
"Sure is." I replied, tightening the grip around my knees as I looked back at the sky. Please don't let him be one of those people where they just be friends with you for a ulterior purpose.
I heard some shuffling and saw him sitting down next to me. He was grinning.
"What's your name?" He asked.
"Give me your name, and I shall give you mine." I replied, quoting a character from one of my favorite games.
He laughed at me, making me regret saying that. "My lord!!" He wiped a tear from his eyes. "I've never heard anything more arrogant than that!!"
"Well gee, thanks." I said, lowering my head and laid my chin on my arm that was resting on my knee, hiding my embarrassment.
"Well, my name is Ace. Now yours." He said, grinning.
"Leona." I replied.
"Leona? That's a neat name you got there." He complimented.
"Thanks." I said, lowering my head even more so he couldn't see my smile. There's no way he could be those types of people.
"So what are you doing here?" He asked.
"Could say the same to you." I retorted, making him chuckle.
"Just wanted to see if this place would be free for lunch so my friends could eat up here." He answered.
"Even if it meant you skipping class?" I raised an eyebrow.
"Yup! Well, I was dared to go up here and check during class since they didn't want to." Ace explained.
"Oh? Nice friends you've got there." I commented. Totally would be them.
"Well, they're the best friends you could ever wish for!" He grinned. "Hey, I should introduce them to you! You're a pretty cool boy! They'll definitely enjoy being around you!"
I stared at him.
"What?" He asked, looking puzzled. "Did I say something wrong?"
I sighed. "I'm a girl, idiot."
"Eh?! No way!" He sure looked surprised.
I let out a laugh and grinned. "100% a girl. Can't believe you actually thought I was a boy!!"
"What do you mean?! There's nothing that indicates you to be a girl?!" He asked, standing up and pointed at me.
"Uh..." I looked over myself. Nope, nothing actually did. I was just wearing baggy pants and a regular t-shirt, plus I was flat as a board.
I took off the cap I was wearing and my long hair fell. "Now do I look like a girl?" I asked.
He grinned. "Now you do."
I chuckled. "Ace, you know you're interesting yourself, right?" I asked.
"Of course! My friends tell me that all the time! They tell me I'm a special case!"
"You sure are a special case." I said with a hidden smile. "You sure are."
