Yakov's Eternal Darkness and Light

Chapter 8

I close the gate to the stable and hear Yami say my name, "Yakov?" 

I walk around the stable and don't see Yami anywhere. (Where did she go?) I scan the area around me, but don't see her anywhere. "Yami!?!" 

There's no answer. (Where could she have gone?!) I quickly run up the steps and into my office, but Yami isn't in there either. I run around the castle and check both her room and the kitchen. I run into Leffe on the way to the garden and grabs both of his biceps. "Leffe, have you seen Yami?!" 

"No, is she missing?"

"Yes, I can't find her anywhere."

"I'll ask the other servants if they've seen her." Leffe runs in the opposite direction I came from and I go back to my office and see Sergei sitting on the couch. 

"Sergei?"

"Yes Yakov?" 

"Have you seen Yami?!"

"Not since before you two left." I cover my face with my hand and take a deep breath. (Where the hell did she go? I didn't see anyone else near the stables, so maybe she just got lost.) "Yakov, let's go back outside and look for any footprints she might have left."

"Okay, let's go." I run outside the castle and search for footprints, but everything has been washed away from the rain. I fall to my knees outside the stable and cover my face with my hands. (How could I be so foolish?! I never should have let her be out here by herself! DAMN!!!!! I hope she's safe.)

I uncover my face and feel Sergei rest his hand on my shoulder. "Yakov, you should change into something dry, before you get sick." 

"Alright..." I stand up and walk into the castle. After I change my clothes, I sit down at my desk and look out the window. (Yami, where are you?)

A couple hours later, Leffe and Sergei walk into my room with soup. "Our men couldn't find anything, Yakov." Leffe tells me. "I'm sorry, but we will continue looking."

"Thank you, Leffe." I answer. 

Sergei sets down a bowl of soup in front of me and I just continue to look out the window. "You should eat something, Yakov." 

"How can I eat, when Yami is out there and most likely starving?!" 

"Yakov? What are we going to tell Prince Roberto tomorrow morning when he shows up and we still haven't found Yami?" Leffe asks.

I stand up and slam my hands on my desk. "We will find her!!!!"

"But what is we don't?"

"Then, I guess Prince Roberto can help us look." 

"But-"

"Leffe! Do you doubt that we are going to find Yami?!?" 

"No, I want to find her, it's just that... We haven't found any trace of her-"

"WELL KEEP LOOKING!!!!" 

I sit back down in my chair and Leffe quickly bows to me and hurries out of the room. Sergei bows to me and takes the soup out of the room. I look back out the window and deeply sigh. (I will find you, Yami. I promise.) 

The next morning, I got no sleep and I see a car drive up to the castle steps. (That must be Prince Roberto) I walk out of the castle and down the steps with Sergei by my side. 

"You must be Yakov Chernenkov. I am Prince Roberto of Alteria." He holds his hand out to me and I greetingly shake it. ///Me making up words ^^*/// I pull my hand away and see Prince Glenn climb out of the car. 

"Prince Glenn? Why are you here?"

"I came along with Prince Roberto to greet Princess Yami." 

"Um, well about Yami..." I start.

"She's missing, our men have been looking for her all night, and there is still no trace of her." Sergei finishes. 

I look down at the ground and see Prince Glenn clench his fist. I look back up at Prince Roberto. "We will find Yami, and she will return safely back to Alteria." 

Roberto turns around and takes a couple steps into the forest. He then bends over and picks something up. "Yakov? Does this belong to you?" He tosses something to me and I catch it in one hand.

(It's a camera) I turn it over and see Gustav's family crest carved on the back. "I know who took Yami." I look up at Roberto and show him the crest on the back of the camera. "Gustav kidnapped her." 

"It's a good thing I brought this then." I hear Glenn say as he pulls a bow out of the car. 

"I guess your paranoia finally came in handy." Roberto says to Glenn, smirking.

"Shut up," Glenn says while pulling out his arrows. 

I feel Sergei pull on my sleeve as he turns away from the princes. I take a step towards him as he whispers something to me. "Why is Prince Roberto here?"

"He is Yami's older brother."

"Yami is the Princess of Alteria?!"

"Yes-"

"Then why is Glenn here?"

"I don't know, but more importantly. Where would Gustav take Yami?"

"Our men spotted an abandoned cabin within the woods a while back. Maybe he took her there."

"Alright, let's start there." 

I turn back around and look at Roberto, "We know where Yami is."

"Alright, let's go!" Roberto yells as he walks into the forest.

"No, Prince Roberto. I can't allow you to go." Sergei says.

"Yami is my sister! If any of us should go, it should be me. So, are you going to lead me to Yami or not?" 

"I like your enthusiasm, but do you even know how to fight?" Sergei asks.

"Of course, I do. What kind of Prince doesn't know how to protect himself? Now let's go!"

Glenn, Roberto, and I all follow Sergei into the forest on horse back. I see a cabin in the distance and two men guarding the door. "I'll lure them away, and you three retrieve Yami." Sergei says as he ride his horse towards the other side of the cabin. 

(Sergei! What is he doing!?!)

I watch as Sergei shoots his gun at the cabin and almost hits the guards. (He missed!) The two men run after Sergei and he leads them away from us and out of my sight. (Good job Sergei. Stay safe)
