A/N: Hey guys, I hope you enjoy this fanfiction, and please give me some feedback on my writing and with any ideas you may have for this story. This is my first one in a while, so I'm hoping to improve in my writing skills throughout the course of this story. Thanks!
_____"Three, get your ass over here!" Yang's piercing shout echoes through Lexie's head, ultimately breaking her trance from deep within one of her many daydreams . Well, they're not so much daydreams as longingly gazing at Dr. Sloan. She's not the first intern to fawn over him and his charming blue eyes, but for Lexie Grey, crushing on a co-worker many years her age was a first. She knew nothing could happen between them, him being her boss and all, but it couldn't hurt to look. That's the lie she fed herself, anyways.
"She's looking again, you know." Callie's condescending look was intended for Mark, and Mark alone. Throughout the past couple weeks, Lexie's been shooting her best friend flirty eyes every chance she got, but it was up to Callie to prevent Mark from acting on his feelings so his career and friendship with Derek wouldn't end up being ruined. As if it was not bad enough that she was only twenty-four years old and just a first-year intern, he also made a promise to Derek that he would not go near Little Grey in that way. Stupid Meredith and her ridiculous paranoia, Mark thought. Nevertheless, Mark's secretly been holding on to his stupid crush on her. Except it didn't feel stupid to him. The way that when she walked just close enough past him, and he caught even just the slightest whiff of her mesmerizing coconut shampoo, that was not stupid. The little smiles she gave him from across the crowded cafeteria when she saw him enter the room, that was not stupid. Their sexy stolen glances at one another in the OR, that was not stupid, either. It was all irresistible. She was irresistible. To him, Lexie Grey was more than a cute intern with a juice box, a photographic memory, and a twisted family life. No, to Mark, she was his Little Grey. If only she knew that.
Lexie quickly made her way over to the Pit, where Cristina hovered over an elderly woman, clipboard in hand, paired with a disgruntled expression on her face. "Yes, hi, Dr. Yang. What can I do for you? Please tell me you need help on this case. I mean, sutures are great, really. Sutures are fantastic. They help me learn the basics, I know. Because I'm an intern who knows nothing. But please, for the love of God, please just let me assist you on this case."
Cristina glanced at Lexie's pleading, wide doe-eyes, and examined her expression. Not unusual for an intern, to beg their resident without any fear of appearing as desperate. But for Dr. Grey, this was a completely foreign thing to do, and Dr. Yang knew it. "Well, it does, look like you've had a hard morning, and, well..."
"Yes?" Lexie squeaked, her high-pitched voice full of hope.
However, Dr. Yang was not impressed at this immature behaviour and would not let the irritating intern off easy. "Well nothing. You should know better than to think I would play favourites and do you any favours by letting you choose where you spend the day. Because if that's the case, I hope I get to do Cardio surgeries all day long. But that's not how it works. Now go away. Shoo!"
Lexie's palms were beginning to form tiny beads of sweat, and her voicy was shaky. "Um, sorry to bother you, Dr. Yang, but where should I go?"
Not impressed, Cristina's monotone voice responded to the question without compassion or any emotion at all. "From this moment on, you're assigned to Plastics. You've clocked the least hours there out of all my interns, and like hell I'm going to be blamed for not having you go through a proper, well-rounded internship. Now leave before I change my mind and let your education suffer. There's always scut with your name on it, Three."
With that, Lexie spun around and headed towards Plastics, a wide grin on her face, knowing that in just a few short moments she'd get to see Mark again. She did not know exactly what caused her intense attraction towards him. I mean, physically, there was no doubt about it. He was hot. She knew it, he knew it, and just about every naive nurse on the surgical wing knew it, too. But there was something else, something more about him that had her completely drawn to his presence. Something told her that deep down, Mark was not the total pig and man whore, everyone, including himself, made him out to be. Deep down, she had this strong, trusted feeling that Mark Sloan was truly an alright guy. Maybe even a good guy. She didn't know why she felt this way, or when it all even started, but she did know that she was not going to give up on him until she found out the truth about him.
