The world was a shimmering gray. The Reaper, Destroyer, Fallen Angel, they called him. The uncontrollable beast.A white moon hung low in the sky, illuminating the stagnant plains the man tread upon.
The bodies of his enemies, the hot red blood that erupted from the pores of their lifeless bodies, was the only color besides the black and white of the night.
How had it come to this? the man thought.
He wrapped his black now stained red cloak tighter around his body.
In my need to be strong, could I have prevented all this? He gripped his chest, Kail could feel the darkness of his heart pump stronger than before, the need to slaughter and to kill, overpowered everything else.
Kail would make this his end. The strength to protect had become the darkness he vowed to destroy. Throwing his sword into the ground the once white knight would die there on the fields of Camlann. If he lived any longer he would become that which he despised. He would bleed out to death, here among the forsaken demons.
Kail kneeled down on one knee and raised his head in quiet resolute. A brief flash of light engulfed him, as he sighed in relief.
Kairyn woke from his sudden dream, hot beads of sweat covered his body. He calmed himself by taking long deep breaths. He checked his alarm clock. Just shy of 2:00 in the morning again. The same dream, again, He thought irritatingly. This is becoming a regular occurrence.
Waking up sweaty and dazed every morning, was something Kairyn really wasn't happy about. What kind of dream was that anyway? Swords and demons? The bodies looked so real again. He thought. The first time he saw that dream, had him waking up, and running to the bathroom, promptly puking his guts out. There was no way he could tell anyone about the things that were happening to him. He laughed aloud at the thought, like there was anyone to believe me.
He lived with a butler in a giant house, which to Kai, was a small scale mansion. The only reason why most people would think it strange, is when you consider his age. Kai was 10 years old, well, 11, actually, today was his birthday. And today just for my birthday, I'll start my morning workout 2 hours early, he thought acutely.
As Kai was changing into his usual grey tracksuit, he couldn't help grimacing as he picked up his telephone his non existent, parental guardians had recently bought for him. They were living in Washington now, his uncle Herbert Jackson was a prestigious lawyer, not the good kind, his job entailed covering up dirty politician secrets. His aunt was a fashion designer, and since both were really busy, or so they said, they had no time to take care of Kai. Instead, they gave him a house in Surrey, England, a weekly salary of 1000 pounds, and a butler named James.
"Hey, James I'm going out."
Kai called out to the room next to his. By now, his butler was used to his routine.
"Ah, yes Master Kai, today the air is crisp and cool, a perfect time for a morning run, be sure to get back in time for your lessons." His butler answered.
Aside from being a butler and a general caretaker of the Jackson residence, James Arthur Cooke was Kairyn's instructor and teacher. He was also the closest thing to a parent that young Kai had.
The 50 year old man, already awake, looked outside his window to see Kai already running down the street. The butler had grew fond of the boy after 8 years, still guilty, that he could do nothing about Kai's nightmares he had every night, on the eve of his birthday.
June 10th, 1980, was today's date and on the same day, 3 years after his birth, Kairyn's parents died.
Thinking about it and obsessing, wasn't healthy, Kai knew, but he couldn't help it. The main reason being, he could still envision the lifeless bodies of his parents before him. Their bodies illuminated by the flame of the wrecked car. He remembered being in his mother's arms her last words,
