It seemed like forever until the lunch bell finally rang. I didn't really talk to anyone so far.
"Victoria, come here," Mrs. Smith said just as I was about to leave.
"Yes, what is it?" I asked.
"We took a quiz today. You were the first to turn in your paper. I didn't know if you tried on your quiz so I looked over it. I'm am impressed. Most of the students got lower than 60% but you didn't get a single question wrong."
"Actually, back at my old school, my math class has already covered this part."
"Wow, interesting. Good job on your quiz. Keep up the good work," she said and I left.
Well, the test was easy... Because I've already learned how to do the problems. Well, lunch time. Uh, Cali, was it? Cali said to meet her in the cafeteria. I've past the cafeteria a few times today so I know where it is. But geez. This high school is huge. Also, I forgot to mention, I'm in my sophomore year of high school.
I walked into the cafeteria and scanned the place, looking for Cali. I couldn't find her anywhere. After looking around for five minutes, I decided to sit down at a table. It was getting awkward so yea...
I sat down at a random table and the people there looked at me and stared at me. They don't seem very nice.
"Hi," I said.
They didn't respond back. Instead, they gave me mean faces. What in the world do I do in this situation??? Thankfully, a girl came and touched my shoulder and said, "Victoria, come with me. Sorry I'm late."
Thank God! It was Cali! She's my savior! She's like an amazing angel!
"Yea," I responded quickly and started walking with her.
She started walking outside and towards a grassy area far from where everyone else eats and hang out during lunch. In the grassy area, there was a single tree. Cali sat under there and so did I.
"Wrong table you were sitting at," Cali said to me as she pulled out a lunchbox.
"I could tell. They seemed mean," I replied and pulled out my lunchbox as well. We both started eating.
"Haha yup. They're not that nice. They're pretty mean but as long as you don't get in their way, they won't do anything to you."
"Are you always alone?" I asked. Maybe this was rude but she responded so... Yay?
"Actually, I do have friends, but you know, I switch around groups. My main group is the one with the only popular girl, Aria. Then there's her friends, Eve, Bree, Maddy, and Belle. They are good people I guess. I don't really hang out with them anymore. Things happened. So yea, I'm actually alone now. I don't know if I should go back to switching between groups."
"I've never been one to switch between groups. What's it like?" I asked.
"It's not the best, but I enjoy doing so. A lot of people actually know me because of that. What sucks is there's not a lot of people you can trust because you don't know them enough."
"I've always trusted my friends. It was only a small group, but they were great friends."
"Yea, that's the kind of group I'd like. But you know, I can't really settle in just one group. They kinda get boring."
"Hmm. Well, I have to admit, it gets boring sometimes when they talk about things you're not quite interested in."
"Exactly. Hey Victoria, I saw you draw something in history class today. It was anime style wasn't it?"
"Omg! Yes! Do you watch anime?"
"Of course!"
"Wow!" I said. Wow, we have something in common! I love anime!
"We're gonna be great friends! Welcome to my real side, Victoria!" She said and extended her hand. I took it.
"Yes!" I replied. Well I made a friend... THAT WATCHES ANIME! YES!
"Girl, we should hang out during the weekend!" Cali said.
"Anytime," I responded.
"My Lord, its so hard to find interesting people these days!"
"I'm glad I made a friend. Its never easy for me to make friends." I told her.
"You know, I was like that too. But then, it got so easy to make friends in middle school."
"Wow, lucky you! You are good at making friends. You already seem so interesting to me."
"I'm gonna call you Vic, alright?" she asked.
"Sure. Cali, I do have a question though."
"Ask ahead."
"Who are the people I should probably avoid? I wanna know about some of the people here."
"Oh boy. There aren't many bad people. They may seem bad but you just need to get to know them and they'll be nice. I have a friend called who is very salty but she is actually very nice. Now, there are lots of popular people. There is no one in particular who is very very popular, but some of the popular people are Jackson, Katherine, Daniel, Austin, Madison, Jade... There's a lot of people. I can't really list them all. But someone you might wanna watch out for is Nana. She's the star of the mean group that you were sitting with. They're not bad though. But she can get mean."
"Wow. Oh also, do you know someone with long, wavy, blonde hair? She's kinda tan." I asked.
"Hmm.. There's a lot of people who would fit that description."
"I know, but there was this girl who I talked to this morning. She seemed cool."
"Was she walking with anyone?" Cali asked.
"No. I only saw her."
"I think she may be Jennie. Jennie's my friend. She's mean at first but you know, she's cool."
"Oh yea. She told me to get glasses this morning," I said and made a sad face.
Cali started laughing.
"That's definitely Jennie. She'd kinda popular with the boys. Well, we should hang out this weekend, my anime... Buddy." Cali said and elbowed me. "If you're free."
"Of course I'm free. I don't really have a life... Yet," I said and she started laughing.
"I'll give you my number. We are friends so... And don't give my number to anyone. I'm only giving it to you so I can text you my address and because you're my friend," Jen said.
Friend, huh? I guess making friends was easier than I thought.
